Position Description:

Masonic Homes Kentucky is looking to hire a year-round Landscaping and Grounds crew member to help maintain the lush, historical grounds at our Louisville campus in St. Mathews.

This position will assist with all aspects of landscape maintenance, including mowing and edging, shrub and small tree pruning, landscape bed preparation and plant installation, weeding, watering, mulching, pesticide application, trash collection, wildlife management, snow and ice removal, and leaf collection, among other tasks. Grounds crew members are also expected to help maintain power equipment and keep workspaces clean and organized. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and able to work alone or with a team.

Requirements and Skills:

Minimum- High school diploma, some college preferred.
One-year verifiable landscape and/or grounds maintenance experience.
Horticulture, Plant knowledge and identification with emphasis on ornamental plants and turf with Grounds maintenance/landscaping "Best Practices" knowledge and experience a plus.
Demonstrated ability for the proper use and operation of power equipment such as zero-turn mowers, tractors, skid steers, tillers, blowers, string trimmers, chain saws, gas hedge trimmers, etc., as well as various hand tools.
Kentucky pesticide applicators license or the ability to acquire within 6 months of hire.
Valid KY driver's license with good driving record.

Physical demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel plants, soil, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms: stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Walk and stand for periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must be able to use backpack blower, sprayer, or operate a string trimmer continuously for 1 hour at a time (weight 30 lbs.). The employee must frequently lift, push, move up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift, push, move up to 50 lbs.

Work environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works outside in all weather conditions including extremes of heat and cold, rain and snow. There will be exposure to loud noises and dirty environments. The employee is always expected to wear and use all provided safety equipment and personal protection devices.
