Title: Project Accounting & Bookkeeping Assistant

Reporting to: Finance Manager
Status: Casual Term (ends August 31, 2026) ;
Hours: Flexible hours, up to Full Time.
Work Location: Primarily in‑person;
limited hybrid flexibility possible.
Role Purpose
This term‑based role provides hands‑on transactional finance capacity to support day‑to‑day accounting operations and maintain audit‑ready financial records across the Lil’wat Business Group. The position is designed ensure continuity of core bookkeeping, reconciliations, and documentation, particularly during peak periods, audits, vacations, or project surges.
The role supports multiple entities and may assist with retail and construction‑related bookkeeping where required, with a practical and detail‑oriented focus to ensuring reliable foundational data.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and maintain accurate Accounts Receivable records, including payment tracking and follow‑up on discrepancies
- Support Accounts Payable processing, including invoice review, coding, and basic matching
- Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations as assigned
- Maintain accurate, well‑organized financial records across multiple business entities
- Support job costing and project tracking for construction and operational activities
- Ensure transactional data is complete, timely, and properly coded to support month‑end and audit processes
- Prepare and organize documentation required for audits, reviews, and internal controls
- Maintain orderly digital and physical filing systems to ensure audit readiness
- Work with operational staff to clarify transactions and resolve missing or inconsistent information
- Flag errors, gaps, or risks in financial records and follow through to resolution
- Provide coverage and backup for routine finance tasks to support operational continuity
- Prioritize clear handoffs and record‑keeping
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Experience & Attributes
- 1–4 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting support, or similar transactional finance roles
- Post‑secondary coursework or training in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping preferred
- Practical understanding of core accounting concepts (debits/credits, reconciliations)
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage or similar) is an asset
- Exposure to project‑based, construction, or retail environments is an asset
- Comfortable working across multiple entities and business lines
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized processes
- Accuracy, consistency, and documentation over speed
- Organized, reliable, and able to work independently with clear direction
- Professional and respectful in interactions with staff, vendors, and Members
- Willingness to work on‑site and collaborate closely with operations teams
- Clear Criminal Record Check required
