Job Description
Position Summary
Hastings Family Service is seeking an experienced Development and Marketing Coordinator to coordinate the development and implementation of fundraising and stewardship strategies that carry forward the mission to engage community to provide help and hope to neighbors. The Coordinator is a key member of the resource development team, building and nurturing effective community and donor relationships through strong communication and marketing using email, phone, print media and personal interaction. This team member shares the HFS story and impact as well as exceptional gratitude while championing our values of respect, generosity, and inclusion. This is a full-time on-site position. Essential duties and responsibilities:
1. DEVELOPMENT:
Donor Information/Database management (55%)
- Manage all Network for Good (NFG) donor database functions with critical accuracy that ensures data integrity including entry of donations and gift acknowledgements
- Prepare deposits and reconcile monthly with the Office Manager
- Support the fundraising efforts of the resource development team through queries and reports to achieve annual budgeted goals; utilize data for appropriate analytics to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the database
- Maintain mailing lists as well as address and donor information updates in NFG including the memorial/honor gift processes; Document and update processes
- Serve as a welcoming presence to assist with walk-in donations to the Donation Center, answering questions, showing appreciation and gathering donation information/photos
- Develop strong relationships with our volunteers and work with the Volunteer Manager to acknowledge and support their varied and generous contributions to HFS
- Strengthen organizational relationships, both internal and external, with excellent follow-up, care and kindness
- Other duties as assigned based on skills and experience
Event Coordination: (25%)
- Serve as the lead event organizer for all aspects of Hastings Tastings/MN Foodshare and the annual Drive Out Hunger Golf tournament
- Primary staff support for the Gobble Gait event and volunteer organizers
o Schedule committee meetings and maintain all notes
o Engage lead sponsors in the planning and execution of the event
o Maintain and update the primary spreadsheet of sponsors and assist with sponsorship solicitation
o Complete website updates, monitor and respond in a timely way to website inquiries and the Gobble Gait email account
o On-site coordination of event on Thanksgiving morning
- Assist with development events like Give to the Max day and collaborate with community on events that are held for HFS or where HFS should be present
- Work with the Programs team to coordinate drives/donations for food, personal care items, school supplies and other items, and ensure in-kind gifts are accurately recorded and acknowledged
- Develop and maintain partnerships that build support for the mission and invite in the community and volunteers to be part of the HFS family
2. MARKETING (20%)
- Create and update marketing and fundraising materials, signage, direct mailings, e-news, social media, website updates, brochures, etc; Put together the display/materials for information tables at external events
- Coordinate the requests for printed materials and possibly the need for outsourcing or contract work if needed
- Manage the creation and distribution of marketing materials and impact reports
- Implement an ongoing social media calendar, highlighting programming and impact while balancing messaging to multiple constituencies including donors and neighbors served
- Represent HFS in the community – attend meetings, serve as a speaker to share our story with events/groups, etc.
- Work across teams to help assess needs, gather stories of impact, and research/share opportunities for funding
3. GENERAL
- Participation in relevant continuing education and staff development opportunities
- Limited evening and weekends as needed
- Other duties as assigned
- Education and Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years working in a nonprofit and/or fund development environment
Required Experience:
- Previous professional experience in nonprofits, fundraising, marketing and event planning required; Minimum of 3-5 years strongly preferred (this is a mid-level position with room for growth)
- Tech savvy with proficient technology skills including database management (HFS uses Network for Good/Bonterra), Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, Teams), Adobe InDesign/Creative Suite, Canva, etc. and the ability to master new technologies
- Demonstrated success in the hands-on coordination of events
- Proven ability to engage deeply within a community and interface with staff, board, donors and other internal/external audiences to develop opportunities for partnerships and generosity; some public speaking likely
Preferred Experience:
- Experience working with the public with increasing levels of responsibility
- Experience working in a volunteer-driven organization (nearly 500 volunteers make HFS programs possible)
- Knowledge of the Hastings area

Salary $47,000-$56,000 commensurate with experience. Strong benefits package including but not limited to medical, dental, employer paid life insurance, 403B retirement with employer match, 13 paid holidays including your birthday, and generous vacation and sick leave in an environment where family always comes first.
