We are currently seeking for a compassionate, highly-skilled, and reliable personal care assistant (PCA) to serve as part of our growing home health care team.

In this role, you will work with our clients in their homes, helping them with basic personal hygiene and domestic tasks as needed, according to their requirements and limitations. You will provide compassionate care and assistance and document clients' progress to help ensure their overall wellbeing.

MWF 4hrs per shift

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Certified Nurse Aide Certification is required through successful completion of an approved program

  • One year-full time experience in personal care or an institutional setting, such as a hospital or nursing home, or one-year full-time experience within the last five years in direct client care in a home care agency setting

  • Evidence of sympathetic attitude toward elderly care

  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, and carry out directions.

  • Evidence of maturity and ability to deal effectively with job demands

  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Attend eight (8) hours of personal care-oriented services per year

  • Participate in professional meetings when directed

  • Ability to work closely supervised to ensure competence in providing client care

  • Must have a criminal history check conducted prior to being offered a position with the agency

Responsibilities:

  • Provide for activities of daily living by assisting with serving meals, feeding patients as necessary and ambulating, turning, and positioning patients; and providing fresh water and nourishment between meals.

  • Provide personal hygiene assistance

  • Maintain patient stability by checking vital signs and weight; testing urine and recording intake and output information.

  • Assist with personal care and hygiene

  • Perform housekeeping duties

  • Provide patient comfort by utilizing resources and materials; transporting patients; answering patients’ call lights and requests; and reporting observations of the patient to the supervisor.

  • Complete client's shopping or accompany them to do so successfully

  • Report any unusual incidents

  • Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency

  • Document actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.

  • Maintain work operations by following policies and procedures.

  • Protect Gail's Homecare value by keeping patient information confidential.

  • Keep updated in the latest trends and knowledge in the industry and maintain licensure

  • Accept ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; and explore opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Physical Demands:

  • Sufficient visual and hearing ability to comprehend written and verbal communication.

  • Able to perform tasks involving activity which may include heavy lifting and extensive bending and standing.

  • Can deal effectively with stress.

  • Work assigned hours per week.

  • Bend and stand an average of six (6) hours per day.

  • Lift up to 50+ pounds.

  • Write up to 3 hours per day.

  • Work in a stressful environment.

  • Drive up to 50+ miles per day.

  • Assess and communicate with ill clients, co-workers, and the general public

  • Must have a passion for caregiving and a desire to help others

  • Knowledge of relevant nursing care

  • Friendly and professional bedside manner

  • Must be neat in appearance and practice good personal hygiene.

  • Effective oral, written, and reading communication skills

  • Understands legal implications of patient care

  • Must have a reliable means of transport.

  • Must have a valid proof of a negative TB test or be willing to get tested.

  • Must have CPR and First Aid certifications from a recognized provider
