Summary Statement:

The Hospitality Aide plays a pivotal role in making the dining, social, housekeeping, and recreational experiences within our community meaningful and purposeful.

Relationships:

Reports to: Food Services Supervisor

Internal Contacts: Residents & Family Members, Employee Care Partners

Key Responsibility Areas:

Resident Lifestyle Support:

  •          Assists with daily life within the Community, as needed, such as serving meals, doing light housekeeping in the food service area, assisting Residents, supporting spontaneous activities, and leading Learning Circles
  •          Provides high-quality services for the Residents that are consistent with the Well-Being Strategies
  •          Promotes involvement by Residents in meaningful activities
  •         Collaborates with the Community team to plan and participate in special celebrations and spontaneous events
  •          Engages in meaningful conversations with Residents and family members
  •            Conducts ongoing solicitation, surveys, and measurement of feedback. Implementation of Care Partner suggestions, interactive problem solving, and an annual evaluation
  •          Collaborates with the team to facilitate the highest level of hospitality service for the Resident

Administration: 

  •          Plans, develops, and implements expansion in program services
  •          Monitors key measurable indicators of daily operations
  •          Reports and responds to concerns/issues as they relate to services within the Community

Training and Support:

  •          Acts as a team builder, coach, mentor, active listener, facilitator, teacher, and an important resource to our community
  •          Engages all Care Partners in all aspects of hospitality experiences, helping everyone become well-known to one another
  •          Participates in ongoing educational programs
  •          Attends and participates in Community Learning Circles, meetings and events
  •          Maintains appropriate levels of certification (As required)

Health & Safety:

  • Understands and participates in the Emergency Management Plan, Infection Control protocol, WHMIS, and Health & Safety Wellness Strategies
  •          Reports all health, safety or maintenance items as required
  •          Provides a safe and sanitary environment for all Care Partners and makes every effort to reduce safety hazards, accidents and injuries
  •           Identifies any health, safety or maintenance issues, and reports/documents as required

Projects and Assignments:

  •          Performs a variety of other projects and assignments as required.

Training and Administration: 

  •              Provides orientation and development to care partners
  •              Attends educational workshops to inform the team on trends and advancements in food preparation and nutrition
  •             Participates in various committees and meetings providing advice/input
  •             Maintains records required by the Community, auditors, and funders as required

       Qualifications:

Education

·        Grade 12 Diploma or recognized equivalent is required.

Experience

  •           Experience in hospitality, food service, or recreation is an asset 

Certifications:

  •          Food Safe Certificate is an asset

  •          WHMIS

Working Conditions:

  •          The ability to move freely about, lift, or push up to 50 lbs., and frequent stooping, kneeling, reaching, bending, and standing.  
  •          Work in stressful and potentially emotionally charged situations.
  •          There is a potential for injury and exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and communicable diseases.
