The Hermitage Inn https://www.thehermitageinnvermont.com/ & the Schlow Restaurant Group (SRG) https://www.schlowrg.com/ seek a creative, experienced Restaurant General Manager to join the team and be part of the leadership and operation of the restaurant at the world class Hermitage Inn on 65 acres in West Dover, Vermont.

The perfect applicant will be even tempered, have a strong dedication to excellence, a predisposition to serve, have superior teaching capabilities, be creative, possess superior skills and leadership qualities, and have a strong work ethic. The candidate should have strong computer skills and be able to work with Toast POS, Tock Reservations, 7shifts and run payroll. Training will be provided for candidates that are new to these systems.

The GM will have the opportunity to collaborate with James Beard Award-winning Chef Michael Schlow, the SRG team, and the supportive ownership in making this country inn and restaurant one of the best establishments in the US.

Duties/responsibilities Include all of the traditional Items that fall under the GM role including but not limited to:

  • Overseeing and leading the entire FOH restaurant team

  • All hiring and training of new FOH employees.

  • Working with the Executive Chef to provide ongoing training of the menu

  • Monitoring and maintaining the highest hospitality standards, adhering to budgets, beverage costs, labor models, etc.

  • Overseeing all front of house management, while ensuring all aspects of service and kitchen operations are of the highest standards

  • Creating and maintaining a learning environment and guiding professional development

  • Overseeing organization, efficiency and policies pertaining to the kitchen

  • Working with members of the management team and SRG to maximize sales and optimize profits

  • Collaborating with James Beard Award-winning Chef Michael Schlow, and reporting directly to the SRG Executive Team

  • Working with Toast, Tock, 7shifts, Heartland Payroll and google suite.

  • Ensuring that highest hospitality standards are achieved at the Inn.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS 

  • Able to train and manage a large staff.

  • Able to stand for a 10-14 hour shift.

  • Experienced in fine-dining, high-volume food sales.

  • Possess leadership, team building and implementation skills.

  • 3 years of management experience

  • 5 years of food service experience

  • Candidates must be able to lift 50 lbs, and we are an EOE.
