Agtech Project Manager (remote within Canada)

This is a remote role Full-time $70000.00-$100000.00/year

About EMILI

EMILI is an industry-led non-profit that works collaboratively with producers, industry, investors, and innovators to grow a sustainable and economically resilient digital agriculture industry, guided by three strategic objectives: innovation, partnership, and engagement.

We are a team of about 15 people and operate in a remote-first environment, with access to offices in Winnipeg, Manitoba, as required. We offer competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package.

About the Position

This role is responsible for driving the successful delivery of EMILI’s new Innovation Farms Network project across Canada. You’ll set agtech project testing protocols and coordinate activities, timelines, and resources to ensure project milestones are met, while working closely with internal teams and external partners in the agtech ecosystem. The Project Manager will oversee planning and execution, monitor progress, and ensure deliverables align with the network’s strategy, policies, and data quality standards. You will track projects, manage risks, and provide regular updates to stakeholders.

We’re looking for someone who loves building from the ground up—creating systems, processes, and standards where none exist. You’ll thrive here if you enjoy fast-paced iteration, are comfortable with some short-term uncertainty, and are energized by working toward a bold, long-term vision.

This position is remote within Canada, although Alberta is preferred. Our offices are located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and travel to the headquarters will be required approximately 2 times per year. In this role, overnight travel is expected approximately 15 nights per year.

  • Co-developing with the Network Lead network-wide systems, standards, and toolsets for project and data management

  • Developing and managing detailed project plans, timelines, and resource allocations for digital agriculture product testing on a variety of farms.

  • Collaborate with farm managers and technology companies to ensure testing protocols are appropriate for each project and each site

  • Coordinating tasks and activities across teams to meet project objectives

  • Maintaining project documentation and providing regular status updates to stakeholders

  • Managing ongoing relationships with project stakeholders and responding to and resolving complaints and issues

  • Ensuring all deliverables meet quality standards and project requirements

  • Representing the network at conferences, trade shows, events, and public speaking engagements

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (agriculture-related degree preferred)

  • 3+ years of project management experience

  • 5+ years of experience in an agriculture-focused role

  • In-depth understanding of setting agricultural testing protocols and crop production systems

  • Strong organizational and planning skills

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

  • High degree of comfort and competency in public speaking, networking, and relationship building

  • Self-starter attitude with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Passion for supporting the success of Canadian agricultural innovation

  • Valid Driver’s license

  • Located in Alberta, Canada strongly preferred

  • PMP or equivalent is considered an asset

  • Proficiency in G-Suite, and project management tools (Asana, Airtable, etc) is viewed as an asset

  • Bilingual (English/French) language proficiency is viewed as an asset

  • Access to a suitable home workspace
