This position combines strategic oversight with day-to-day management, including responsibility for the Dease Lake Fleet Shop and warehouse as well as on-site support at project locations such as Eskay and Galore mines.

The Regional Fleet Supervisor will lead and mentor mechanics, shop personnel, and contractors while coordinating repairs, conducting fleet reviews, and aligning maintenance activities with site production schedules. This role also ensures compliance with WorkSafe BC, the BC Mines Act, client requirements, and company safety programs, while driving performance, reliability, and cost control across the fleet.

Responsibilities:

Safety & Compliance

  • Always mentor and enforce safe work practices.
  • Lead and participate in Pre-Start Meetings (PSMs) at Dease Lake and at site locations (e.g., Eskay, Galore), tailoring safety discussions to site-specific hazards and conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with WorkSafe BC, BC Mines Act, client, and company safety requirements, including site-specific orientations, permits, and isolation/tag-out procedures.
  • Audit site maintenance bays and mobile service work for compliance; track corrective actions to closure.
  • Ensure TNDC and 3rd-party mechanics follow company/client safety programs and are held to the same standards as internal staff.

Fleet Operations & Maintenance

  • Supervise Dease Lake Fleet Shop operations, mechanics and ensuring quality maintenance and high performance.
  • Provide day-to-day directions to TNDC mechanics and 3rd-party contract mechanics at Dease Lake and on site, including time management, reviewing work orders, and QA/QC of completed work.
  • Coordinate and oversee 3rd-party service providers to supplement shop capacity and meet specialized service needs, both at Dease Lake and on site.
  • Support the Fleet Manager in directing utilization, maintenance, repair, replacement, and disposal of fleet vehicles and equipment.
  • Maintain a regular rotation of site visits (e.g., Eskay and/or Galore) to:
    • Conduct condition assessments and PM compliance checks.
    • Align maintenance windows with production/shift schedules.
    • Support Troubleshooting critical equipment issues and expedite parts/service.
    • Review work order quality, root-cause analysis, and repeat-failure elimination.
  • Provide technical guidance, direction, and mentoring to mechanics and support staff at Dease Lake and satellite sites.
  • Investigate and report damages, extraordinary costs, and out-of-scope work; coordinate with site leadership on recovery plans and downtime minimization.
  • Implement strategies to optimize fleet performance and reliability (PM programs, component life tracking, oil analysis, and regular inspection) tailored to site operating profiles.

Procurement & Inventory

  • Work closely with the Inventory & Logistics team to ensure stock levels are optimized for both Dease Lake and site laydown/consignment locations.
  • Support sourcing, quoting, and purchase order requests for fleet parts and services; coordinate site-directed orders and returns.
  • Ensure availability of critical spares, fluids, and winterization kits aligned to site consumption rates and seasonal demands.
  • Oversee receiving, issuing, and accountability of parts and materials at Dease Lake; verify site issue/return accuracy and tool control.

Leadership & Workforce Supervision

  • Supervise and schedule Fleet Shop personnel at Dease Lake; directly supervise TNDC mechanics and 3rd-party contract mechanics assigned to the fleet; coordinate with site supervisors to balance manpower between branch and sites.
  • Mentor junior employees and support career development, including cross-training for site deployments.
  • Conduct performance reviews and performance management (discipline, training, efficiency improvements) for Fleet Shop employees; provide performance input and day-to-day supervision for TNDC and 3rd-party contract mechanics in alignment with contractual frameworks.

  • Support Controls Group in billing for third-party repairs and inter-site work orders; validate contractor invoices against work orders and rates.
