Legal Services of North Florida has an opening for a Leon COVID Recovery Paralegal in our Tallahassee location. Ability to work independently and in team environments to obtain results to positively impact the legal needs of low-income and vulnerable individuals in our community in civil legal matters.
Candidates must have strong organizational and communication skills, be comfortable with office technology, and able to learn electronic case management system. Experience with client interviewing and drafting letters, legal motions, and orders is needed. Ability to analyze complex issues and to obtain results to positively impact client and community is highly preferred. Applicants should be a skilled typist and have excellent grammar and computer skills. Qualified applicants will be a either a Florida Registered Paralegal with the Florida Bar Association or have a four-year degree or completion of a legal assistant or paralegal program approved by the American Bar Association. (Year-for-year work experience as a legal assistant or legal secretary may be substituted for the education requirement.) Experience with housing law, consumer law, tax law, public benefits such as social security disability and unemployment, bankruptcy law, or other financial recovery resources would be beneficial.
Entry level salary of $28,000 is negotiable, depending on experience. Comprehensive fringe benefits package includes: paid holidays, paid vacation (which after two years, increases to four weeks per year), sick leave, a four-day workweek (35 hours). After sixty days, fully paid health insurance for employee & dependent children. Additional voluntary options of term life, disability insurance, and retirements plans are also available.
