Hilton Garden Inn is looking for a Sous Chef to work with the Executive Chef to create, implement and maintain quality standards. The Sous Chef will be responsible for the entire operation in the absence of the Executive Chef. The ideal Sous Chef will accomplish their tasks by monitoring the daily functions of the culinary department, including providing support and guidance to the culinary team, resulting in a positive guest experience.

 

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the preparation and cooking of various food items.
  • Develop and implement creative menu items that adhere to Hilton brand standards.
  • Plan, coordinate & implement special events and holiday functions.
  • Manage hourly kitchen employees through scheduling, payroll, training, coaching, evaluating and hiring.
  • May manage other key culinary leadership roles, including supervisor and other less senior Chefs.
  • Lead and coach the team towards achieving exceptional guest service and employee satisfaction results.
  • Monitor food production, ordering, cost, and quality and consistency daily.
  • Ensure proper safety and sanitation of all kitchen facilities and equipment.
  • Support senior leadership by developing and assuming basic management responsibilities.
  • Assume the role of liaison between all departments within the culinary division and all other hotel departments

 

Qualifications

  • High school or equivalent required.
  • Formal culinary training or associate degree in culinary arts preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years cooking experience preferred.
  • Must have experience calculating figures and amounts and performing mathematical functions to meet business needs.
  • Food handling certificate in states or counties where required.
  • Food & Beverage service experience is preferred.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule as the hours for this position will vary.
  • Must be fluent in English.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, or hear.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and pushing and/or pulling approximately 50lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work long hours in hot conditions.
