TOOL REPAIR TECHNICIAN
Job Analysis and Description
I. JOB SUMMARY
of mechanics, mathematics, physics and electronics to calibrate, inspect, and
repair equipment in the electrical, physical, and/or mechanical disciplines to
ensure measurement accuracy. Repair, clean, calibrate and certify hydraulic/mechanical
tools and related equipment utilizing appropriate testing procedures and performing
corrective actions to address identified operational problems. Adapt equipment,
standards, and procedures to accomplish unique measurements. Maintain
calibration/ testing standards.
II. JOB RELATIONSHIPS
Immediate Supervisors: Lab Manager and Assistant Manager/Technical
Manager and/or Lead Technicians
Workers Supervised: None
Interrelationships: Initial training will begin in-house in the
ESL Lab where the technician will work closely with the Lab Manager, Assistant
Managers, and Lead Technicians assigned to Tool Repair area to receive the
proper training and development in order to perform the functions required of a
Tool Repair Technician.
The Tool Repair technician
will also work closely with the Technical Manager and Lead Technician for
further OJT training, and assistance in providing exceptional customer service.
Must have a High School diploma or GED
degree, technical trade school or military training in Hydraulics, Automotive
mechanics, small engine repair, and/or related field.
Training and Experience:
Experience in repair field with
demonstrated knowledge and skills in at least one of the following: electronic
equipment repair, hydraulic troubleshooting, and/or mechanical equipment
Knowledge of hydraulics,
calibration principles, related math, physics and electronics principles.
Knowledge of laboratory torque and
force standards used to calibrate hydraulic/mechanical tools.
Skill to correctly use and operate hydraulic/mechanical
tools and standards used in electrical, physical, and/or mechanical disciplines.
Knowledge to perform general math,
statistical equations (force, pressure, area).
Skill to use basic computer
applications and various software applications.
Ability to read, correctly
interpret, and apply schematics and part breakdowns.
Ability to establish priorities,
work independently, and proceed with work objectives with limited supervision.
Excellent communication and

IV. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ABILITIES
AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Works primarily in laboratory
setting, within JM’s locations.
Ability to sit or stand at a desk
or repair bench for extended periods (up to 2 hours typical).
Ability to perform lifting of various
items unassisted (up to 50 lbs.)
Ability to perform housekeeping,
maintenance, and organization of work area.
Ability to work in confined work
areas with a group of others.
Ability to perform in depth repairs
on hydraulic/mechanical tools with small intricate parts.
Ability to sit, stand, bend, walk,
and climb stairs.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL TASK/DUTIES

replacement, correction factors, etc. Identifies
and corrects measurement errors, as applicable.
