General Labourer (PPS Utility)
With over 50 years of experience, MacCosham has been a
leading provider of rail yard terminal services, specializing in the management
of various yard configurations. Our services include rail intermodal terminal
operations, container and chassis repair depots, mechanical services, welding,
and associated repair services.
Position Available: PPS Utility (Full-Time, Permanent)
Location: Calgary, AB
Responsibilities:
·
Conduct a complete yard inventory check each
weekend, excluding statutory holidays.
·
Accurately report fuel records and temperatures.
·
Perform inventory checks and update lifts and
inventory using specialized software (Oasis).
·
Complete and document pre-trip analysis of
yard equipment using tablets.
·
Inspect all equipment interchanged at
Terminal for damages/defects.
·
Prepare containers for delivery or receipt by
rail or ground transportation.
·
Install and remove IBCs (inter box
connectors) from railcars and lock/unlock containers.
·
Drive service vehicles in tight areas.
·
Update and maintain accurate fuel records of
the company fleet.
·
Perform physical duties such as standing,
bending, and lifting on railcars.
·
Follow all safety procedures and regulations.
·
Apply, remove, and assist with the
identification of Blue Signal and derail track protection.
·
Ensure all equipment is maintained, clean,
and maintain an organized work environment.
·
Carry out any additional tasks as required.
·
Fulfill Groundsperson duties when required.
·
Apply, remove,
and assist with the identification of Blue Signal and derail track protection.
·
Carefully handle
IBCs (inter box connectors) on railcars, including unlocking/locking containers
·
Conduct
pre-trips on heated and refrigerated containers, following customer
instructions and accurately reporting fuel and temperature readings.
Qualifications:
·
Previous experience working around heavy
equipment preferred.
·
Valid Class 5 Driver's License required.
·
Able to work on a rotating 2-week, 12-hour
shift schedule. Night Shift 6pm-6am
·
Comfortable working outdoors in all elements.
·
Clear communication skills in English,
particularly over the radio.
·
Demonstrated safe and efficient workplace
practices.
·
Ability to work within a team environment to
meet tight deadlines.
·
Steel-toe boots with an 8" rise
required. Must wear required PPE including high visibility vest, safety glasses, and hard hat.
·
Must pass a company-paid pre-employment
screening test and background check.
