About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and passionate full-time Donor Relations Specialist to join our Donor Development team. In this role, you will assist in cultivating relationships with mid-level donors, reactivating lapsed donors, and acquiring new donors. You will also support the Development department with administrative duties and special projects. The role requires the ability to be detail oriented, organized, have strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality. The ideal candidate is an engaging, energetic self-starter who relates well to others with sincerity and compassion.

What’s the job?
Your accountabilities as the Donor Relations Specialist will include:
Intermediate Donor Stewardship and Growth
Collaborate with the Director & Manager of Donor Relations to develop a comprehensive strategy for stewarding and growing our mid-level donors
Write grant letters.
Brainstorm fundraising themes and stay updated on donor trends.
Work with the Director & Manager of Donor Relations to determine when and where to include specialized offers and campaigns for our mid-level donors
Manage the process and perform activities that thank our mid-level donors for their donations, including making thank-you calls, writing thank-you notes, as needed
Donor Impact Story Lead Generation
Document and curate impact stories.
Work with the Director of Donor Relations to turn these stories or quotes into our monthly thank you letters, drafting these letters for review by our editorial team
Donor Development Support
Maintain donor profiles and reports.
Respond to donor requests.
Support team with travel bookings and events, as needed
Perform expense reconciliation for team members
Special Projects
Coordinate donor updates and proposals.
Assist with special projects (digital campaigns, donor events, improving online donation processes and experiences, phone campaigns).
General Duties
Maintain files and budgets.
Coordinate departmental events.
Participate in daily devotions, team events and meetings and organization wide meetings.
About You:
A deep commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Focus on the Family Canada.
A post-secondary degree in or equivalent experience in donor relations, fundraising, marketing, business administration, or sales ( an asset).
2-5 years in donor relations, fundraising, marketing, project management, grant writing, or business analysis Knowledgeable of list segmentation and data interpretation best practices, preferably within a faith-based organization (would be considered an asset.)
Strong oral and written communication, attention to detail, ability to draft persuasive content, and knowledge of list segmentation and data interpretation.
Experience with CRM systems and donor database management.
Warm and pleasant on the phone, able to express sincere gratitude and recognize the sacrifice and generosity of each donor
An aptitude for learning new software with the ability to type at a reasonable speed (about 40+ wpm)
Strong organizational skills, ability to maintain files and track details
