GENERAL SUMMARY: 

The mission of Ed Snider Youth Hockey & Education is to create opportunities for under-resourced youth of the Greater Philadelphia Region to prosper in life. The intended impact is that participating youth will become Snider student-athletes with age-appropriate social-emotional strengths and skills to succeed and contribute as students, employees, and community members. 

 

Academic Program Assistants help Snider achieve its mission by providing key administrative support to the Academic Achievement Coordinator, both on-site and virtually. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES: 


  • Entering student report cards, attendance, and other data related to Academic Programs.
  • Managing multiple student databases, tracking student grades, tutoring, and participation.
  • Creating reports, tables, data trackers, and summaries in excel.
  • Preparing year over year or month over month academic data reports.
  • Communicating academic program information to students and parents/guardians.
  • Assisting with preparation and coordination of Snider events.
  • Preparation and distribution of promotional materials and academic curriculum.
  • This is a hybrid role, meaning you will work at the Snider office, Snider rinks, and virtually. The Snider office is in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia.
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 


  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) is requiredBachelor’s Degree is preferred. 
  • Strong candidates will have experience working with children, particularly within an academic and athletic environment.
  • Attention to detail and strong communication skills are critical.
  • Advanced computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Preferred Excel knowledge includes comfortability with common functions and formulas, nesting, pivot tables, and conditional formatting.
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce or other CRM systems is helpful, but not mandatory.
  • Applicants should be outgoing and ready to provide a high level of customer service. 
  • Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced and high-profile environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Successful applicants must be able to pass the PA Child Abuse Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Background Check, and FBI Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.

INTELLECTUAL AND SOCIAL DEMANDS:  

While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is continuously asked to multi-task under time limits. The position requires constant attention to precise details and specified standards including following simple to complex (more than three steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time.  

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  

While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee constantly operates a computer and other office devices such telephones, copy machines, fax machines, etc. Occasionally moves about inside office space to access storage areas, cabinets, and office machinery. Occasionally local driving in support of work-related projects. Occasional pushing, pulling, lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.  

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  

The essential responsibilities of this position are performed indoors, mainly at the office, but include occasional visits to Snider ice rinks and special event sites (indoor/outdoor in the weather conditions prevalent at the time). The noise level in the work environments can range from moderate to loud during events/programs and is minimal during non-event/program times. 

 

SCHEDULE: 

Most work is completed during standard weekday hours. There may also be opportunities to workoccasional night and/or weekend duties in the Greater Philadelphia area.  Academic Program Assistants will work in a hybrid environment - working at the Snider office, Snider rinks, and virtually. The Snider office is in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia.
