SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Porter instructs and assists customers in the proper use of the automatic scoring system, as well as assist the Desk Attendant when needed. The Porter will also maintain the highest possible cleaning standards by following regular guidelines as established by the general manager, and to assist customers in the proper use of the automatic scorer.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Duties and Responsibilities include the following, but not limited to the following, and any other duties that may be needed or assigned.
  • Report to work in uniform as scheduled, ready to work.
  • Provide friendly, courteous, polite and helpful customer service.
  • Maintain a safe work environment, and a safe bowling environment for customers.
  • Check with front desk for special assignments.
  • Remove debris from floor and carpet; Wipe all spots and spills.
  • Check and clean all doors and windows.
  • Check restroom every half hour for cleanliness, tissue, soap, and feminine waste where needed. Clean restrooms before and after each league.
  • Replace paper products and soap in restrooms.
  • Clean/Dust tops and fronts of all vending machines, game machines and soft drink machines.
  • Dust lamps, televisions and edging around center.
  • Dust all lanes and wipe down approaches before and between leagues. Clean approaches with appropriate solvent.
  • Instruct bowlers on proper use of automatic scores and encourage their confidence in use.
  • Remove dead balls and pins in the channel.
  • Remove bowling balls from returns and place on racks. Remove any chipped and cracked bowling balls as needed.
  • Return glassware to bar, and trays to the kitchen.
  • Survey parking lot to keep clean and free of trash.
  • Remove garbage from building and discard empty boxes and other waste in outside dumpsters. Replace garbage can liners and break down boxes as needed.
  • Clean inside of receptacle areas and trash cans.
  • Sweep entrances.
  • Remove cobwebs.
  • Attend work regularly and exhibit a positive attitude towards staff and customers.
  • Attend to front desk duties, such as: answer telephone, distribute rental shoes and clean bottoms of rental shoes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Oral communication skills; light cleaning skills, good people skills; basic mathematics and problem solving. 
  • Regular use of judgement is required for direct interaction with customers. Some problems can be referred to a higher level for solution.

  • Requires regular lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Requires working in an area where high levels of noise and dust can be expected.
  • Will work in conditions in which at times you may be subject to walking on oiled and slick surfaces.

Education and /or Experience

  • High school education preferred, limited education acceptable. Some knowledge of USBC rulebook (if possible).

Certificates / Licenses /Registrations

  • Applicant must possess a current working home or cell phone.  

Dress Code

Assigned uniform shirt with black pants, slip resistant shoes. Hair is required to be neatly pulled back off shoulders and secured away from face; no jewelry; clean and manicured nails
