Richmond Health Care Center, a skilled nursing and long-term care community, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Director of Nursing (DON) to oversee our nursing department. This is a high-impact leadership role for a Registered Nurse committed to providing exceptional care, ensuring regulatory compliance, and cultivating a positive team culture that values residents and staff alike.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Administration

  • Provide strategic leadership and supervision to nursing staff and support personnel

  • Manage day-to-day clinical operations and nursing department functions

  • Develop and implement nursing policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives

  • Participate in budget planning, staffing, scheduling, and payroll-related decisions

Clinical Oversight & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations

  • Oversee assessments, care plans, and individualized nursing interventions

  • Monitor infection control programs, wound care management, restraint reduction, and psychotropic usage

  • Conduct regular audits, staff competencies, and departmental reviews

Team Development

  • Recruit, train, evaluate, and retain qualified nursing personnel

  • Promote staff development through in-service education and mentorship

  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment

  • Coordinate orientation for new hires and ensure performance evaluations are completed in a timely manner

Resident Care & Communication

  • Maintain high standards of care delivery for all residents

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for care planning and outcomes tracking

  • Serve as a key liaison with residents, families, and healthcare providers

  • Respond to concerns, incidents, and emergencies with professionalism and urgency

Reporting & Documentation

  • Lead Quality Assurance and Risk Management initiatives

  • Review and track RTH data, infection control metrics, medication administration, and other care indicators

  • Complete required documentation, reporting, and regulatory submissions

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid and unencumbered RN license in the state of Texas required

  • Active CPR certification

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of leadership experience in a skilled nursing facility required

  • Comprehensive knowledge of state and federal regulations (e.g., CMS, OSHA)

  • Excellent written/verbal communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills

  • Must be able to meet physical requirements, including walking, lifting (up to 70 lbs), and standing for extended periods

  • Strong computer and EMR proficiency

  • Willingness to be on-call and work occasional nights, weekends, and holidays
