Richmond Health Care Center, a skilled nursing and long-term care community, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Director of Nursing (DON) to oversee our nursing department. This is a high-impact leadership role for a Registered Nurse committed to providing exceptional care, ensuring regulatory compliance, and cultivating a positive team culture that values residents and staff alike.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Administration
Provide strategic leadership and supervision to nursing staff and support personnel
Manage day-to-day clinical operations and nursing department functions
Develop and implement nursing policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives
Participate in budget planning, staffing, scheduling, and payroll-related decisions
Clinical Oversight & Compliance
Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations
Oversee assessments, care plans, and individualized nursing interventions
Monitor infection control programs, wound care management, restraint reduction, and psychotropic usage
Conduct regular audits, staff competencies, and departmental reviews
Team Development
Recruit, train, evaluate, and retain qualified nursing personnel
Promote staff development through in-service education and mentorship
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment
Coordinate orientation for new hires and ensure performance evaluations are completed in a timely manner
Resident Care & Communication
Maintain high standards of care delivery for all residents
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for care planning and outcomes tracking
Serve as a key liaison with residents, families, and healthcare providers
Respond to concerns, incidents, and emergencies with professionalism and urgency
Reporting & Documentation
Lead Quality Assurance and Risk Management initiatives
Review and track RTH data, infection control metrics, medication administration, and other care indicators
Complete required documentation, reporting, and regulatory submissions
Required Qualifications:
Valid and unencumbered RN license in the state of Texas required
Active CPR certification
Minimum of 2-3 years of leadership experience in a skilled nursing facility required
Comprehensive knowledge of state and federal regulations (e.g., CMS, OSHA)
Excellent written/verbal communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Must be able to meet physical requirements, including walking, lifting (up to 70 lbs), and standing for extended periods
Strong computer and EMR proficiency
Willingness to be on-call and work occasional nights, weekends, and holidays
