 Job Summary

The Head of Marketing and Communications leads the activities and operations of the marketing and communications department and staff; creates and executes marketing programs and events, visitor and internal communications initiatives, and production of marketing and sales materials.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create, implement and manage multiple marketing strategies including digital marketing, direct marketing, events marketing and content marketing programs to increase awareness and engagement in OKCMOA programs and goals
  • Develop and oversee marketing budget
  • Oversee all social media channels and campaigns, including content creation, scheduling, social media ads, and tracking
  • Oversee website management and email marketing, including written and digital content, redesign as needed, SEO optimization and tracking analytics
  • Lead in the creative development, production and distribution of all related marketing, communications and online materials and products
  • Plan, write and edit press releases, advertising and other public information
  • Create, execute, and manage visitor and internal communications strategies from inception through implementation
  • Create, maintain and manage consistent brand image throughout all marketing and promotional materials and product lines
  • Collect and analyze market research and audience demographics to gauge effectiveness of marketing and communications efforts; make data-driven strategic or tactical adjustments as needed
  • Oversee contractors such as photographers, videographers, web designers, or creative firms who assist with marketing related projects
  • Create, implement and maintain procedures that enhance the efficiency of the Marketing Communications team
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with marketing and communication professionals, art writers and critics to ensure OKCMOA messages reach audiences across the state
  • Manage and develop marketing and communications staff; manages schedules and workflow
  • Assigns duties and monitors quality of work; assures staff conforms to organizational policies, procedures, and government regulations
  • Provides day-to-day guidance and oversight of subordinates; actively works to promote and recognize performance
  • Keeps up to date on overall activities of the team, identifying problem areas and taking corrective actions
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in related field or equivalent
  • 3 to 5 years related experience required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and oral presentation skills
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, layout and design, professional printing/publishing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organize multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating subordinates
  • Basic competence in subordinates’ duties and tasks
  • Proficient in MS Office, WordPress and Adobe
