Med-Surg Unit Manager

IMC is currently hiring a Med-Surg Unit Manager. who is responsible for leadership and oversight of the Medical and Surgical Nursing Unit.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assures quality patient care and ensures that sufficient and properly trained persons carry out the functions of the department
- Responsible for managing the P&L of the unit and administration of the departmental budget
- Responsible
for providing leadership and promoting effective relationships between departmental
staff, physicians and other departments
- Coordinates all staffing, scheduling and management of nursing employees to ensure appropriate staffing on a daily basis
- Consistently demonstrates job performance, which reflects commitment to the core values and standards of care of IMC; actively promotes the hospital and supports the mission and vision at IMC
- Acts a liaison between patient, family, staff and physician, when necessary
- Sets specific standards and objectives for the Medical Unit in collaboration with the Chief Nursing Officer and physician
- Communicates changes in policy, procedures and other appropriate communication to staff and provides feedback from staff. Participates in policy/procedure review, update, and implementation
- Manages employee performance to ensure optimal patient care and maximum efficiency
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the CNO
Education & Licensure (Required):
Graduation from an accredited nursing program

Current, unrestricted RN license in the State of Louisiana

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years Hospital based Nursing Required
- Med-Surg Nursing leadership preferred
- Supervision and management experience preferred
- Experience with Studer group principles of leadership preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying throughout the organization and externally to customers and vendors
- Proficiency in using computers, software and web-based applications, including but not limited to Microsoft office suite
- Knowledge of Joint Commission and CMS healthcare requirements
