Job Description:
The Principal Systems Engineer III (Windows) will be responsible for engineering, design, integration, deployment, testing, certification, patching, addressing interoperability issues, not only of the base operating system, but for all support libraries, components, and application dependencies.
Responsibilities:
- Designing, implementing, and supporting ongoing support of the Windows Infrastructure.
- Serving as the advanced technical expert for all Windows environments.
- Responsible for engineering, integrating, designing, and deploying various Windows components and expert knowledge in Active Directory, Group Policy, digital certificates, multi factor integration, DNS and DHCP.
- Creating and maintaining bare-metal and virtual machines with the appropriate distribution of Windows and network configuration, using tools that include Windows Deployment Services, System Center Configuration Manager, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, Hyper-V, SQL Server, Windows 2016/2019, and Windows 10.
- Provisioning/configuring required software onto servers, such as web servers and databases such as SQL Server.
- Evaluating, improving, and maintaining the security throughout the Windows infrastructure.
- Monitoring and correcting server issues and creating recovery processes for failures and performance bottlenecks.
- Using native, add on tools, and third-party tools to troubleshoot malfunctions, optimizations.
- Using advanced tools to include Resource Kits, Development Kits, and commercial tools.
- Managing and monitoring all installed systems and infrastructure.
- Installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining operating systems, application software and system management tools to include printing.
- Proactively ensuring the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
- Monitoring and testing application performance for potential bottlenecks, identifying possible solutions, and working with developers to implement those fixes.
- Maintaining security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
- Writing and maintaining custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks.
- Participating in the design of information and operational support systems.
- Providing 4th level support.
- Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
- Ensuring technical documentation exists for all systems and is kept up to date to include inventory and patch levels of all systems to include hostnames, property numbers, IP addresses, enclave, number of cores, number of processors, admin passwords, certificates, and service accounts on a monthly interval.
- Integrating systems with Windows as it applies to authentication and core services dependencies such single sign-on and Active Directory.
- Engineering and implementing solutions for multi factor authentication with FBI standardized software and hardware.
- Documenting system configurations including passwords, access controls, version number, and revision numbers, patch levels, and inventory to include hostnames, TCP/IP addresses, number of processors, and number of cores, memory, and license keys.
- Continually transitioning knowledge to the Government staff through training and assistance on how to use the technology using industry best practices and aid on how to use technology using industry best practices.
Required Experience:
- 8+ years of related experience
- Minimum of Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) or equivalent certification
- Pre-boot Execution Environment (PXE) experience and knowledge creating and maintaining PXE server.
- Advanced in using and creating scripts using Microsoft PowerShell, Microsoft Sysprep tools, and Microsoft deployment tools and scripting.
- Expert knowledge in driver requirements for Microsoft windows operating systems
- Understanding of networks, storage, and LAN/WAN systems and applications as well as their dependencies.
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment of virtualized and cloud platforms.
- Experience with Microsoft operating systems (Windows 2016/2019 or higher) Nano, Core, and Server with a Desktop Experience and modifying task sequences for Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager/System Center Configuration Manager, DISA STIGS
- Knowledge of how to apply and modify Microsoft security policy templates.
- Expert in WINPE, Windows Assessment and Deployment Toolkit (ADK), and Windows Automated Installation Toolkit (AIK).
Education: (preferred)
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
Clearance:
- Must be US Citizen with an Active Top Secret w/SCI Eligibility
