St. Martin’s Episcopal School is recruiting Counselors to work for our 2025 St. Martin’s Episcopal School Summer Camp. StM Summer Counselors must be available from June 2, 2022 - July 25, 2025. St. Martin's Episcopal School Counselors must be available for no less than one month from June 2, 2025 - July 25, 2025. There will be MANDATORY all staff training on May 31st from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Meals are provided to all staff at no extra cost. 


First and foremost, Counselors are responsible for the safety and well-being of all campers. At all times, a Counselor should present themselves as positive role models and be enthusiastic. Counselors are expected to maintain open lines of communication with the Director and Division Leader and to work cooperatively with other counselors. Being a Counselor is one of the most rewarding jobs you can ever have. 


You will report to the St. Martin’s Episcopal School Summer Camp Director and tend to campers that range from 4 to 11 years old. You will have daily interactions with division leaders, counselors, campers, parents/caregivers of campers, and all StM staff that work on campus during the summer.


Regular Camp is Monday through Friday.


Job Description

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older

  • Must have at least one year experience working with children

  • Must be CPR/AED & First Aid Certified or have the ability to become certified before Day 1 of camp.


Camper Supervision

  • Work with your Group Leader and other Group Counselors to ensure campers are supervised at all times.  This includes group management and organization during lunchtime, camp arrival, camp dismissal and off-campus field trips.  

  • Be a role model to campers and staff in your attitude and behavior.

  • Identify and report camper concerns or disciplinary issues to your group leader in a timely fashion.

  • Assist with all records of daily attendance.


Participate in the development and implementation of program activities for campers 

  • Actively and enthusiastically participate in all activities.  Engage in Specialist activities providing assistance and support in activities such as swimming lessons, arts & crafts, sports instruction, fitness, and outdoor.  

  • Plan fun and safe activities appropriate for the assigned camper age group.

  • Assist your Group Leader by being prepared with a variety of activities for rainy days, last-minute schedule adjustments, and downtimes.  


Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for campers and staff

  • Provide the daily care of each camper within your supervision including recognition of personal health needs.
  • Take primary responsibility for ensuring safety policies are followed at all times. 
  • Ensure that program areas are kept free of hazards and debris.
  • Report hazards or noticeable facility damage to the St. Martin’s Staff immediately.


Communication, Cooperation and Collaboration

  • Attend all mandatory camp staff meetings and training events.  

  • Seek and analyze feedback from youth, families, and staff regarding the quality, safety, and enjoyment of the program and staff.
