General Laborer
As part of our team, General Laborers are essential in assisting Property Maintenance Technicians whenever and wherever we may need on any given day. Variety is key in this position with the General Laborer being assigned to assist in the general maintenance, upkeep of grounds, amenities, building exteriors, building interiors, parking lots and other community buildings of multi-family residential apartments. General Laborers with Empire Property Management Group are also expected to assist in the warehouse, run errands and take loads to dumpsites. You should possess a well rounded knowledge of safety, lifting techniques, general labor activities, some basic maintenance and hand tool usage and enjoy working in an environment where every job is a little bit different. The ability to grow within our company is limitless for those who possess the right attitude, take initiative to grow their skillset and help the organization grow as a whole.
Daily job duties likely include the following:
- Perform general labor work including but not limited to: internal property clean-outs, moving furniture, cleaning out basements, cutting grass, weed trimming, cleanup around property, snow removal in winter, general trash removal from outside buildings, within common areas and inside units, helping team members as needed.
- Assist in property maintenance by being an extra set of hands and learning a variety of maintenance duties including; painting and spackling, general cleaning, tearing out carpets, unloading and loading appliances with team members.
- Changing locks and being able to fit electronic keypad/locks in a variety of doors will be a regular duty (training will be provided)
- Work involves a large amount of time working outside in the weather and at a number of different locations
- Ensure completion of work orders according to scheduling demands and work requested
- Assist the maintenance technician and turnover teams on an as needed basis
What we expect from you (qualifications):
- Well rounded general labor experience as part of a team.
- Must be able to properly operate equipment safely.
- Must show propensity to learn to skills and to do a variety of tasks daily
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds alone and 100 pounds team lift
- Work alongside our maintenance division and office team to provide exceptional customer service to resolve all maintenance related issues to the satisfaction of our tenants
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills required to interact with both tenants and office staff
- Previous job experience: General labor, property maintenance
- Bilingual preferred, not required
Requirements:
- Valid drivers' license along with a dependable vehicle and clean motor vehicle record (company vehicle potential)
- Must have a smartphone and have the ability to complete daily work tickets via mobile device
- Must have your own tools for the job (basic hand tools required)
