Marine Service Technician (Mechanic) - Jones Valley
Summary/Objective:
Jones Valley is currently seeking a quality conscious marine service technician with a high work ethic. Must be honest, reliable, and have a neat, clean appearance with excellent customer service skills. Knowledge in repair, maintenance, and installation of Volvo Penta, Mercruiser, OMC stern drives, as well as Westerbeke and Kohler generators.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Maintains, repairs and rebuilds engines, outdrives and generators on houseboats
• Maintains, repairs, rebuilds engines and transmissions on ski boats and work boats
• Maintains, repairs, and rebuilds outboard engines on patio boats and fishing boats
• Repairs or replaces parts such as pistons, rods, gears, valves, and bearings.
• Overhauls or replaces carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, magnetos, starters and pumps
• Rewires ignition system, charging system, control circuits, lights and instrument panel
• Repairs or replaces steering systems
• Performs oil and filter changes on main engines and generators
• Maintains and repairs various resort vehicles, and equipment; both diesel and gasoline powered as well as propane powered.
• Operates chase boat to diagnose and repair the service rental fleet
• Performs (TA) turn around inspections and repair for houseboats and small boats
Position Requirements:
SKILLS aND ABILITIES:
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to look up and find parts using standard parts inventory procedures and electronic catalog ordering system.
• Ability to write routine reports, correspondence and correspond through use of email.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
• Ability to interact with the public and coworkers and to follow directions from supervisors.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to measure and read in fractions and decimals.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Ability to understand basic mechanical functions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals from approveed chemical agents necessary to perform the function of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
This position does require the ability to perform under stressful conditions and high-volume demands.
