Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

 THIS POSITION IS PRN

Provides Physical Therapy Care to Patients of Various Ages

·         Perform staff therapist duties in accordance with professional preparation and licensure.

·         Evaluate patient to determine treatment goals; outline delivery of therapy according to assessed needs; plan therapy program involving physical means to include exercise, massage, heat, sound, light, and electricity.

·         Apply methodology for evaluation of functional ability.

·         Consult with medical staff on patient care.

·         Educate patients in the use of specialized equipment, posture control, and therapeutic procedures.

·         Instruct caregivers on prescribed physical therapy regimen; instruct patients and caregivers on home and personal safety in various environments.

·         Adapt therapy techniques to meet patient needs.

·         Conduct training for medical, nursing, and ancillary personnel in therapy techniques and objectives; provide clinical direction through mentoring, planning, and implementing staff in-service training.

·         Supervise and instruct Physical Therapy Assistant, delegate patient treatment responsibilities to ancillary staff as appropriate.

·         Document all patient care activities, record treatment charges per policy and procedure.

·         Perform administrative clerical duties such as maintaining statistics, writing patient charges, and answering telephone as needed.

·         Establish and maintain good rapport and effective working relationships with patients, visitors, physicians, and hospitals employees. 

Secondary Functions:

·         Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.

·         Attends staff meetings and participates in departmental quality initiatives.

·         Perform any other duties needed to help drive our Vision, fulfill our Mission, and abide by our Organization’s Values.

Maximize the use of resources while minimizing waste and controlling expenses. This includes the effective use of work time and supplies, working safely, following established work practices or policies, and seeking ways to improve operations. 

Special Conditions:

1.     Position is subject to safety sensitive standards.

2.     Must take active role in emergency preparedness and safety program that responds to intervention strategies and workforce protection.

 

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from an accredited college program in Physical Therapy required.

Master of Science Degree from an accredited college program in Physical Therapy required after 1990. 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

§  Current unrestricted Physical Therapist, license from the Arizona State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners, required.

§  Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate (American Heart Association), required – must maintain current certification and recertify prior to expiration date.
