Job Description
Job Classification: Non-Exempt, Part-Time or PRN
Reporting Relationship: Director of Nursing
Primary Accountabilities:
The Nurse is responsible for delivering basic practice nursing care such as
supporting resident’s recovery, monitoring conditions of residents, screening
and health prevention activities. The Nurse demonstrates professional
development and clinical competency utilizing the nursing process to assess,
plan, implement and evaluate resident care assignments as well as other
organizational tasks related to resident care. The Nurse is responsible for
providing comprehensive and safe effective and ethical nursing care to call
residents.
Major Duties:
* Obtain medical
information from the resident as it pertains to his/her plan of care. This is to include allergies, medications,
medical history, or contraindications that may affect the plan of care.
* Assists physician or
healthcare provider during resident procedures including the setup/clean of
supplies.
* Administers medication
to residents using proper injection techniques and equipment.
* Submits lab requests as
ordered by the physician or health care provider.
* Completes orders as
requested by the physical or health care provider including medication refills,
prior authorizations, weekly food orders, etc.
* Documents care provided
accurately and completely on the resident’s chart.
* Assists in the
maintenance of supply orders and stock.
* Answers signal lights,
bells, or intercom system to determine residents’ needs.
* Bathes, dresses, and
undresses residents.
* Serves and collects food
trays and fees residents requiring help.
* Transports residents or
assists residents to walk.
* Drapes residents for
examinations and treatments and remains with residents to perform such duties
as holding instruments and adjusting lights.
* Turns and repositions
bedfast residents, alone or with assistance, to prevent bedsores.
* Changes bed linens, runs
errands, directs visitors, and answers telephone.
* Takes and records
temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration rates, and food and fluid
intake and output, as directed.
* Cleans, sterilizes,
sores, prepares, and issues dressing packs, treatment trays, and other
supplies.
* Dusts and cleans
residents’ rooms.
* Performs additional
duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
* Graduations of an
accredited college/university nursing program.
* Minimum Licensed
Registered Nurse in state of practice, required.
* Minimum (3) three years-experience
in similar role, required
* Language
Ability:
*Ability
to communicate effectively in writing and speaking the primary language of the
residents.
*
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance
instructions, and procedure manuals.
*
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak
effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations.
* Mathematical
Skills:
*Ability
to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole
numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Cognitive Demands:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished
in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving
several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Ability to respond to computerized logs and notification of location of
resident calls.

Physical Demands:
* Ability to stand, walk,
and sit for extended periods of time.
* Work normally requires
finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate computer keyboard at a
moderate skill level.

screens and email, mail and talk on the phone.
* Ability to lift up to
one hundred (100) pounds.
