Solar Technology Start-Up Engineer
GCL Solar Materials US 1, LLC seeks a full-time Solar Technology Start-Up Engineer at its facility in Pasadena, Texas to provide process engineering, commissioning and startup support for chemical processes in the manufacture of Silane and Polysilicon for the solar energy industry. Duties include: design and develop new processes and equipment working with external engineering firms and vendors; provide operational support for Pilot plants for new technology invention; provide in-depth analysis of plant data across various chemical processes to identify opportunities for improved control of the processes; provide technical insights into the functioning of the various chemical processes; support and review of basic and detailed engineering documents for chemical process design; identify, investigate, and evaluate feasibility of new and updated technology to improve existing processes; active involvement in the commissioning of process equipment; process analysis and simulations related work to improve and resolve process related issues, and work on multiple, simultaneous assignments.
Position requires a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Materials Engineering, Process Engineering or closely related field to include 2 years of experience as an R & D Engineer, Process Engineer, Production Engineer or similar role in the chemical production industry. Experience must include 2 years of experience with Aspen Plus and Aspen Dynamic Simulation tools or equivalent simulation platform; utilizing Silane and Polysilicon production technologies, processes, and equipment; experience with multiphase chemical reaction engineering in mechanically agitated vessels and with reactor start-up/shut-down processes; experience with analysis of pilot technology for new manufacturing processes for Polysilicon manufacturing; and providing start up support for new Polysilicon manufacturing plants. The position also requires approximately 15-20% domestic and international travel.
