POSITION SUMMARY
The Facilities Technician performs routine and specialized maintenance, repair, and support tasks for the Healing Lodge’s buildings, grounds, and equipment. Reporting to the Facilities Manager, this role ensures a safe, functional, and professional environment for staff, residents, and visitors. The technician assists with preventive maintenance, equipment operation, and responds to work orders while supporting facility operations, safety compliance, and collaborative problem-solving with the Facilities Team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform comprehensive routine maintenance and repairs on facilities, buildings, grounds, and equipment, including carpentry, plumbing, lighting, and basic electrical work.
- Assist with HVAC, fire protection, kitchen, and mechanical systems, performing preventive maintenance and minor repairs as needed.
- Respond to work orders submitted in Asset Panda, completing tasks efficiently, tracking progress, and reporting major issues to the Facilities Manager.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and insurance representatives under the direction of the Facilities Manager to ensure safety, quality, and cost-effective completion of projects.
- Assist with office and residential moves, room setups, and furniture arrangement in coordination with the Facilities Manager and department staff.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment, including performing snow and ice removal, grounds maintenance, and minor housekeeping as needed.
- Monitor equipment and supplies, identifying items requiring repair, replacement, or preventive maintenance; communicate needs to the Facilities Manager.
- Support facility safety compliance, ensuring adherence to OSHA, fire, and accreditation standards, and following all Safety Data Sheet (SDS) protocols.
- Provide safety training and guidance to staff as part of employee onboarding, including proper equipment use, safe work practices and facility protocols.
- Interact respectfully and professionally with all residents and staff, modeling appropriate behavior and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.
- Serve as backup to the Facilities Manager for emergent facility needs, including equipment repair, cleaning, vehicle support, or other operational requirements.
- Assist with basic documentation of maintenance activities, safety inspections, and equipment use for internal tracking and reporting.
- Use technology efficiently to manage work orders, communicate with team members, and track maintenance progress.
- Participate in facility improvement initiatives, safety committees, and operational efficiency projects as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support safe, functional, and compliant facility operations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must meet the minimum educational and experience requirements for the position and demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant applications.
· High school diploma or GED.
· First Aid/CPR/AED within 60 days of hire.
· 5+ years progressively responsible facilities maintenance experience in commercial, institutional, healthcare, hospitality, higher ed, or similar multi-building environments.
· 2+ years in a lead, working lead, or assistant supervisor capacity (assigning work, inspecting quality, coaching, training, and safety oversight).
· Demonstrated hands-on proficiency in at least three trades (e.g., carpentry, plumbing, basic electrical/lighting, HVAC, general mechanical).
· Experience coordinating vendors/contractors, writing scopes, monitoring work, and processing invoices/P.O.s.
· Experience with CMMS/asset management software (e.g., Asset Panda or comparable) and preventive maintenance scheduling.
PHYSICAL DEMAND
While performing the duties of this position,
the employee may be required to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods; bend,
stoop, or crouch; lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; use hands to handle or feel
objects and reach with arms; and communicate clearly and effectively in person
and by phone. Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to
adjust focus. Occasional extended hours or weekend work may be required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is typically performed in an indoor,
collaborative setting. The noise level is moderate, and interactions frequently
involve communication and teamwork beyond basic work instructions.
