Summary of Position: Under the direction of the VP of IT, the System Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining the organization's IT environment, with a primary focus on Microsoft 365 administration, endpoint management, and IT security. This role requires hands-on experience with Office 365 services, end-user support, and security best practices. The Administrator will troubleshoot technical issues, implement IT policies, and ensure a stable, secure, and efficient IT infrastructure that supports business operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Microsoft 365 Administration

  • Administer and optimize Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, and other related platforms.
  • Manage user accounts, groups, and permissions in Azure Active Directory (AAD).
  • Implement and enforce security policies, compliance settings, and data protection measures in Microsoft 365.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot errors, and optimize configurations for high availability and efficiency.

Device & Endpoint Management

  • Oversee deployment, configuration, and lifecycle management of company devices, including desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals.
  • Utilize enterprise device management solutions (e.g., Microsoft Intune, SCCM, or similar MDM tools) to automate updates, enforce security policies, and manage endpoint compliance.
  • Provide troubleshooting support for Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android devices.
  • Ensure asset tracking and inventory management for IT equipment.

IT Policy & Documentation

  • Develop and update IT policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and system documentation.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices to recommend IT improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with company IT policies, regulatory requirements, and security guidelines.

Collaboration & Project Support

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders to support IT-related projects.
  • Participate in system upgrades, migrations, and IT infrastructure improvements.
  • Provide training and guidance on new IT tools and security practices.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2+ years of experience in system administration, specifically with Microsoft 365 and endpoint management.

Technical Skills

  • Microsoft 365: Proficiency in managing Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and Azure Active Directory.
  • Device Management: Hands-on experience with tools like Microsoft Intune (or similar MDM solutions) for endpoint deployment and policy enforcement.
  • Windows & macOS: Strong understanding of operating systems, user account management, and configuration.
  • Networking: Basic knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and firewall management.
  • Security: Familiarity with endpoint security, anti-virus/anti-malware, MFA, and security best practices.
  • Scripting (Preferred): Basic knowledge of PowerShell or other scripting languages to automate tasks.

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills; can explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Time Management: Capable of prioritizing multiple tasks and projects.
  • Teamwork: Collaborative mindset, capable of working independently or in a team setting.

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to provide occasional after-hours or on-call support as needed.
  • Ability to lift and install computer and network equipment when necessary.
