Park Lane Senior Living is looking for a full-time Transportation Aide. 

The primary purpose of this role is to provide transportation to the elders of Park Lane Senior Living.

Flexibility is essential as transportation needs vary and are subject to change frequently. Qualified applicants may need to fulfill floor shifts to meet full-time hours and will be required to assist with CNA duties during transportation downtime.

Candidates must have an unrestricted, valid Kansas Driver's License and a clean driving record. Must be eligible to be added to the company's motor vehicle insurance policy. 

Must hold a Kansas CNA certification or be willing to obtain certification as soon as possible. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide safe and timely transportation for residents to and from appointments.
  • Assist residents with getting in and out of the vehicle.
  • Ensure the vehicle is clean, well-maintained, and equipped with necessary safety equipment.
  • Ensure vehicle maintenance schedules are maintained and report any maintenance issues, safety concerns, or accessibility requirements.
  • Follow all traffic rules and drive safely.
  • Communicate any delays or changes in the schedule to residents and staff.
  • Fill floor shifts as needed to meet full-time hours and assist with floor CNA duties during transportation down time.
  • Follow schedules diligently and work efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain current CNA and/or CMA license.

 Specific Requirements:

  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to multi-task and manage time efficiently to ensure residents are on time to their appointments and are picked up promptly.
  • Must work harmoniously with other staff members to ensure residents are ready for their appointments.
  • Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.
  • Must be able to relate information concerning a resident’s condition.
  • Must be dependable, punctual, practice good hygiene, and follow professional standards of dress and behavior.
  • Must be diligent in abiding by transportation safety rules, such as:
    • Ensuring all passengers wear seatbelts and transport chairs are secured with 4-point securement system.
    • Adhering to speed limits and traffic signals.
    • Avoiding the use of mobile phones while driving.
    • Conducting pre-trip vehicle inspections.
    • Reporting any accidents or incidents immediately.

Work Conditions:

  • Works throughout the facility in the care of residents.
  • Subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Communicates with nursing personnel and other department personnel.
  • At times, this position may extend beyond normal business hours with out-of-town appointments or transports, such as long-distance trips, long workdays, or limited overnight stays.
  • Will participate in on-call weekend rotation (Friday-Sunday) once every four weeks.
  • Subject to call-back emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).
  • Attends and participates in continuing education/in-service programs.

Risk Exposure: Tasks assigned to this position may involve potential and/or direct exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, air contaminants, and hazardous chemicals.

Job Functions:

  • Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with facility policies and procedures, and as instructed by supervisors.
  • Follow work assignments and/or work schedules in completing and performing assigned tasks.
  • Cooperate with nursing departmental personnel, as well as other facility personnel, to ensure that nursing service can be adequately maintained to meet the needs of the residents.
  • Report all complaints and grievances made by residents and/or family to the Social Services Director (SSD).
  • Notify the facility when you will be late or absent from work following facility policy and procedures.

Reporting Functions:

  • Chart residents in and out when taking them to and bringing them back from appointments.
  • Ensure residents have required paperwork prior to transport.
  • Communicate any appointment details and return all paperwork from appointments to the charge nurse. 
  • Update facility calendar and notify families if a follow-up appointment is required.

  • Proactive in identifying resident and facility needs, including maintenance issues, safety concerns, and accessibility requirements.
  • Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision and understand responsibilities without constant guidance.

Who we are...

Scott County Rest Home Inc. was established in 1965 for the care of Scott County elders and currently provides services through 3 divisions, Park Place Independent Living, Park Haven Residential Healthcare, and Park Lane Nursing Home. We are a Continuing Care Retirement Community operating as Park Lane Senior Living in Scott City, Kansas.

Park Place Independent Living has 20 apartments of varying sizes designed to meet the needs of older adults while allowing them to maintain their independence.

Park Haven Residential Health Care houses 11 apartments but can serve up to 16 residents who require more care than independent living but do not require total nursing home care. In Residential Health, the services aim to meet the physical, emotional, and social needs of individuals who are unable to live independently due to age, disability, or medical conditions. Nursing staff provide 24-hour care in Residential Health.

Park Lane Nursing Home is a 54-bed, dually certified, Medicare and Medicaid facility that offers both traditional long-term care nursing and skilled nursing. The nursing facility provides long-term care for residents who require assistance with daily activities due to physical or cognitive limitations. The skilled nursing component provides specialized medical care and rehabilitation services for residents with acute or chronic health conditions. Nursing staff provide 24-hour care in Park Lane Nursing Home.
