POSITION SUMMARY:

This position provides training, technical assistance, and support for parents, volunteers and community partners in The Family Tree’s models to enhance family life thereby preventing child abuse and neglect.  Providing support in the areas of child/youth development and management.  Implementing a plan that engages families in building their capacity and effectiveness with their children.  The work hours are flexible to meet the needs of the community.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement parent education strategies within an assigned area or community to ensure community or site engagement.

  • Provide on-going consultation with identified community leaders and parent leaders as assigned.

  • Assist in providing program information to community groups and parents to promote child maltreatment prevention strategies.

  • Prepare and implement workshops for parents/families to build and strengthen families

  • To schedule, confirm prepare and conduct training sessions on child abuse prevention and positive parenting within schools and communities.

  • Assist in the training and support volunteer/student interns

  • Maintain parent or family participation records in the agency database ETO (Efforts to Outcomes).

  • Complete all assessment and program evaluation tools as required by The Family Tree for each group and its members.

  • Arrange and complete a client satisfaction survey and other service follow-up procedures.

  • Assess family needs and jointly develop plans of action, and identification of resources that build family effectiveness as needed. 

  • The class load is maintained at 3-5 classes/workshops weekly; at minimum, 250 individuals served and with a goal 75% completing classes.

  • When requested will assist in providing parent support on the call-line.

  • Completes statistical reports as required.

  • Attends required staff meetings, training or conferences.

  • Participates in agency work teams as assigned.

  • Meets regularly with immediate supervisor

    EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Sciences (Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Mental Health, Nursing, and Education) preferred.

  • Associate’s Degree in Behavioral Sciences (Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Mental Health, Nursing Human Services, and Education).

  • 60 hours from a four year accredited college/university in Behavioral Sciences (Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Mental Health, Nursing Human Services and Education).

     EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-5 years of experience working in Human or Social Services

  • One year working directly with families or children in group settings

  • Teaching or training experience preferred

     SKILLS:

  • Oral and written communication skills

  • Knowledge of child development and parenting skills building.

  • Group Presentation Skills

  • Computer word processing

     WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings

  • Must be prepared to travel to various program sites, and various communities.
