General Purpose
Responsible for daily oversight of Center operations, including assurance of compliance with standards established to assure a high-quality program. Additionally, Center Managers will monitor teacher lesson plans, family engagement, and classroom management.
Essential Functions
Supervises and manage center activities and operations.
Conducts state, federal and agency facility required health and safety inspections.
Provides and/or ensures active supervision is occurring both inside and outside classrooms.
Ensures all health and safety practices which keep children safe are followed at all times.
Maintains accurate, complete, and confidential maintenance of employee and all participants records.
Assures all center-level documentation and reports are complete, up-to-date, and accurate.
Intervenes in emergency/crisis situations, within 24 hours of detection.
Reports actual or suspected child abuse to the Department of Children and Families (DCF) in accordance with DCF’s mandated reporter reporting requirements.
Completes all USDA required documentation in a timely manner.
Assigns, supervises, schedules and evaluates the work of assigned staff, including substitute staff, to meet minimum program and agency requirements.
Implements training plan for assigned staff and assists staff to access needed training.
Implements disciplinary action of assigned staff, as necessary.
Plans and organizes workloads and assignments of assigned staff to maintain services, reviews progress, directs changes in priorities and schedules as needed to assure work is performed in a timely and efficient manner according to appropriate guidelines, procedures and regulations.
Assures the efficient and economical use of program funds, human resources, materials and time.
Provides leadership for center staff, by providing direction on the work to be done in a clear and effective manner.
Implements systems to manage staff and facility to assure positive outcomes for children and families.
Conducts monthly team meetings for center staff and on-site training sessions, as directed.
Report all onsite injuries of children and staff to the the appropriate staff
. Monitor and evaluate effectiveness of teaching staff in teaching methods and advise when necessary.
Advocates for participants needs and link clients with appropriate resources, as needed.
Provides for appropriate referrals, as indicated, within 10 to 30 days of enrollment.
Ensures all health screenings are complete within 45 days and all other health services within the program year.
Assist with providing parents with timely notification of immunization expiration dates.
Assists in arranging for the development and possible implementation of all services for the child with a disability, or suspected disability.
Assists in the recruitment of children and pregnant mothers during the program year.
Provides input to Management Team for the purpose of planning systems and keeps the Management Team informed of developments in service delivery.
Develops and submits bi-weekly or monthly plans and reports as it relates to NFCD’s Site-Based Management Approach.
Other Job Functions
Supports and comply with all aspects of NFCD’s operating policies and procedures, HS/EHS Performance Standards 45 CFR, Florida Child Care Standards, and OEL Standards.
Builds nurturing relationships with families to support family engagement and participation in classrooms.
Responsible to train teaching staff on new policies set by agency.
Knowledge of availability of community resources.
Completes performance evaluations for all center staff.
Develop and follow-up with staff professional development.
Monitors student attendance daily.
Assist with contacting parents or legally responsible party after one hour of unplanned student absence. Follows-up with parents or legally responsible party after 3 days of irregular absence.
Manages daily indoor and grounds maintenance tasks at assigned sites.
Prioritizes facility repair and maintenance needs, ensuring safety and health needs are addressed first.
Arrange facility repair or maintenance with contractors when needed.
Communicates regularly with COO to ensure adherence to budget constraints.
Ensures that the following activities are being conducted - Housekeeping, cleaning, and maintenance duties, which may include laundry, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting; disinfecting and sanitizing sinks, bathrooms, tables, classroom materials; deep cleaning classrooms, kitchen and storage areas; outside playground maintenance cleaning and organization, etc.
Promotes NFCD in the community.
Contributes to the recruitment of families and volunteers.
Works community agencies as directed.
Responsible for generating, collecting and documenting In-kind for the program.
Ability to establish professional relationships with co-workers in a team environment.
Implements monitoring systems and maintains records that provide for the proper evaluation, control and documentation of assigned operations.
Records significant information and actions.
Prepares reports and correspondence as required.
Coordinates childcare and assist with supervision for on-site childcare provided during parent events/meetings.
Maintains accurate and complete volunteer files.
Ensures volunteers working 10 hours or more per month are referred to Human Resources for background screening and TB testing.
Conducts monthly fire and emergency preparedness drills
Assists in other departments, including meal preparation and bus monitoring; relieves staff for breaks, as required.
Requisitions of office supplies and/or equipment as needed, and monitors inventory.

Education
Degree Type: Associate’s degree Major: Educational leadership or related field and coursework 9 college hours in child-care organization, leadership, and administration.

Work Experience
Required: 1 years experience in Early Childhood Education or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred: 1 year of experience as on-site childcare director/manager
Level of Physical Effort
Minimal physical effort typically found in clerical work. Primarily sedentary, may occasionally lift and carry light objects. Walking and/or standing as needed and minimal.
Physical Working Environment
Minimal exposure to hazards typically found in general office environments where there is rarely to no exposure to injury or accident.

Background
Must be able to pass a Level 2 background check.

Additional
Contingency:
Employment with NFCD is contingent upon an annual appropriation by the Legislature, federal funding, and successful implementation of job requirements, as measured by performance-based evaluations. In the event the federal, state, and/or local funds upon which employment is dependent are withdrawn or redirected, employment may be terminated and NFCD shall have no further liability to the employee beyond that already incurred prior to the termination date. NFCD is an at-will company.
