Senior Team Lead Meat

THE ROLE
The Senior Team Leader Meat role at The Root Cellar is a pivotal position that oversees and ensures the efficient operation of the grocery department within our Oxford store. This full-time role, requiring 40 hours per week, plays a crucial part in supporting the Meat Operations Manager in achieving departmental goals and maintaining high standards of customer service. This pivotal position ensures the execution of daily operations while upholding company policies, fostering a positive team environment, and delivering exceptional customer service. Assists in managing, motivating, training, and developing staff according to company policies and procedures.
- Lead and supervise the Meat department team to ensure daily operations align with the meat program.
- Ensure adequate staffing to meet customer needs and complete required tasks efficiently.
- Oversee the ‘product journey’ from purchasing to merchandising, emphasizing quality control and minimizing losses.
- Maintain accurate scheduling based on sales forecasts and conduct monthly inventory counts using proper procedures.
- Implement daily grocery department checklists to maintain departmental appearance and functionality.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills in all interactions, coaching and mentoring store teams to enhance performance.
- Ensure a safe and compliant work environment, upholding The Root Cellar's values and leadership principles.
- Promote sustainability through retail policies and integrate these practices into company culture and operations.

- At least one year of retail supervisory experience in a meat or food specialty environment.
- A passion for providing superior customer service and sharing produce knowledge.
- A positive attitude and the desire to lead and motivate a team.
- The physical ability to stand for long periods of time and lift 25-50lbs repeatedly.
- The ability to multi-task and maintain organization in a fast-paced environment.
- The availability to work a variety of shifts including evenings and at least one weekend day.
