Job Summary: 

The position would involve preparing meals for five people (clergy), (occasionally more when there are guests), from Tuesday to Friday, beginning the first week of May, 2026. On Fridays, the cook would also be responsible for preparing meals for the weekends (off-hours). This is a part-time position, 20 hours per week.

Responsibilities include meal preparation limited serving, grocery shopping, and kitchen cleaning. There may also be occasional tasks such as cleaning the refrigerator and kitchen cabinets a few times per year.

Main duties and Responsibilities: (main functions but not limited to the following)

  • Create a meal plan within a defined budget.
  • Order and receive food orders and kitchen supplies (ability to drive and shop preferred, mileage covered).
  • Preparing and cooking a hot lunch and dessert every weekday and easy to prepare food throughout the week for off-hours.
  • Setting the table, serving lunch, clearing lunch, cleaning the kitchen, and taking out garbage
  • Preparing food for parish events as required
  • Laundry duties as required

Position Relationships: 

The Cook has a direct reporting relationship to the pastors, however, will also have regular contact with the residents and staff of the Glebe.  

Physical, Mental and Visual Demands:

  • Physical stamina and mobility including ability to reach, kneel and bend
  • Ability to lift, push and pull required load (usually about 30lbs)

Qualifications:

  • Experience as a cook, experience working with seniors as a cook or dietary aide an asset.
  • Knowledge of food handling, dietary, and nutritional best practices. (Certification or education an asset).
  • Ability to meet physical requirements of position.
  • Reliability, dependability, confidentiality, and tact.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong ability to exercise judgment.
  • Professionalism and presentability.
  • Driver's license and access to a vehicle is a strong asset. Reliable transportation to and from work is required.
  • A practicing Roman Catholic is preferred, comfort working in a Catholic setting is required.
  • Need to be able to pass a criminal background check and vulnerable sector check as a pre-condition of employment.

  • This a part time onsite position, 20 hours per week
