Overview
Reporting to the Director, Teaching and Learning, the Education Specialist supports the educational functions of Robertson College including program development and teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities
General - Program Development
Complete course revision requests from instructors as assigned; collaborate with subject matter experts to complete minor course revisions.
Make minor revisions as required to Master course templates based on errors or inconsistencies.
Review program documentation (outlines, frameworks); correct formatting, branding and language and mechanics errors.
Maintain organization of course files and documentation.
Collaborate on academic policy development, renewal and revision.
Complete course review processes as per procedure to ensure quality course development and delivery.
Populate templates as required to assist with new program submissions (i.e. application, course calendar).
Populate course revision log with revisions for tracking.
Collaborate in the development review and revision of process documentation; make updates as required.
Specialized Responsibilities Program Development
Participate in program development and course development projects.
Complete the secondary review process for new course development and design processes.
Prepare contracts for course revisions and development in consultation with the project lead.
Request distribution rights for new textbooks and resources for new programs; follow up with publisher as required.
Review new program documentation before regulatory submission; correct for inaccuracies and language/mechanical errors.
Update the Master Course Information Sheet and the Master All Program Information Sheet as required, ensuring accuracy at all times.
Add course hours and textbook information to Master Course Information Sheet ensuring currency and accuracy.
Update the Course Catalog with new course information.
Collaborates on courseware integration projects (provided be vendors such as COMPTIA).
Assist with access to publisher courseware accounts for students and instructors
Updates the Courseware Integration Guide as necessary.
Connect with the publisher as needed to access instructor and student resources; add to Master template and offerings as needed.
Update Master templates with information about new textbooks or new textbook editions cross-referencing the textbook as needed; add direct ebook links to course Masters.
Work with publishers and SME to find alternative textbooks for textbooks going out of distribution; collaborate on course updates.
Update project tracking sheets as required.
Organize curriculum; ensure proper naming conventions and file organization for curriculum directory.
Complete reports and applications for accreditation or partnerships.
Create and implement QA/Compliance documents and initiatives.
Complete paperwork to PCC and PVI program revisions requests and new program submissions.
Supporting the Operations Team in auditing ebook and courseware usage to ensure accurate invoicing.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Participation in College, Division, and Program Activities
Provide on-campus support for activities, assist with general tasks, and ensure the efficient execution of day-to-day operations,
Attend faculty/staff meetings and training sessions as needed.
Participate proactively in performance appraisals.
Implements policies, procedures and processes in accordance with College standard
Support active interdepartmental cooperation with other departments such as Admissions, Finance, Operations, and Workforce.
Perform other duties/participates in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Post-secondary education required.
Three years of experience as an administrator, instructor, curriculum developer or instructional designer is required.
Adult Education Certificate an asset.
Strong communication and customer service skills and ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders and team members.
Ability to work on multiple projects and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Highly self-motivated and self-directed; objective-oriented with a high-level attention to detail.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
Detail oriented.
Ability to work with a team to achieve goals and meet deadlines.
Strong computer and digital literacy skills.
Ability to work in a diverse, inclusive environment.
A clear criminal records check and child abuse registry check.
