Position Overview:
We are seeking a Cyber Exercises Specialist to develop, plan, and execute cybersecurity exercises that assess organizational readiness and response capabilities. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing realistic cyber simulations, conducting tabletop exercises, and working with stakeholders to improve incident response plans. This role is remote, but preference will be given to candidates based in North Carolina.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and facilitate cybersecurity exercises, including tabletop and full-scale simulations.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to assess risk scenarios and define exercise objectives.

  • Analyze exercise outcomes and provide recommendations for improving cybersecurity posture.

  • Develop after-action reports detailing strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement.

  • Support incident response planning by integrating lessons learned from exercises.

  • Stay informed about emerging cyber threats and incorporate relevant scenarios into exercises.

  • Provide training and awareness programs to enhance incident response capabilities.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience conducting cyber exercises, incident response drills, or related activities.

  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST, MITRE ATT&CK, and FISMA.

  • Experience with cybersecurity tools and methodologies used in attack simulations.

  • Security+ or equivalent certification required; CISSP or CISM preferred.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience working with government agencies or highly regulated industries.

  • Familiarity with Red Team/Blue Team operations and penetration testing concepts.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

  • Ability to communicate technical findings effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Excellent project management skills and ability to coordinate multi-team exercises.

This position is onsite at the Thurgood Marshall Federal Judiciary Building in Washington, D.C. Telework may be considered on a case-by-case basis with approval from the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) and appropriate Government Task Leads (GTLs).
