POSITION SUMMARY
Tahltan Nation Development Corporation (TNDC) is seeking a Community Initiatives & Events Coordinator to support community engagement and event coordination across Tahltan Territory. Based in Dease Lake, this part-time role will coordinate community events and engagement activities that bring together TNDC leadership, Tahltan community members, Tahltan businesses, and partner organizations, including Compass Group.
This position plays an important role in maintaining a strong TNDC presence in the community by supporting communication, coordination, and collaboration between TNDC, the Tahltan community, and partner organizations. Through leading the facilitation of events, meetings, and community engagement initiatives, the role helps ensure community members and Tahltan businesses remain informed and connected to opportunities associated with TNDC projects and partnerships.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support communication between TNDC leadership and community members.
- Maintain a visible TNDC presence at community gatherings and local engagement activities.
- Liaise with community members, Elders, and local organizations regarding events and engagement initiatives.
- Organize all aspects of events, including sourcing venues, liaising with community contacts, and booking caterers and entertainers.
- Lead onsite event activities including set up, execution, and tear down, including tables, chairs, signage, audio visual equipment, and event programming.
- Develop and maintain event workplans outlining activities, responsibilities, deliverables, and deadlines.
- Develop scopes of work and contracts for services such as catering, childcare, entertainment, and event support staff.
- Help facilitate communication between TNDC, community members, and partner organizations.
- Manage participant registration, prepare agendas.
- Record and document feedback, questions, and key outcomes from events.
- Arrange accommodation and transportation logistics as required.
- Support coordination of community meetings and information sessions related to TNDC initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Two (2) years of experience of planning, managing and executing large events exceeding 100 participants.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams).
- Diploma in related a related field such as: Communications, Public Relations, Event Management, or Business Administration.
- Knowledge of local protocols, traditions, and governance structures.
- Experience supporting community consultations and events coordination.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity.
- Conflict resolution and facilitation.
- Organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Public speaking and presentation skills.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Ability to pass a mandatory pre-access site drug and alcohol screening when required.
- Willingness to sign an Oath of Confidentiality.
- Valid class 5 Drivers’ License.
- Able to travel – up to 50%
