Biohabitats, a leading conservation planning, ecological restoration, regenerative design, and construction firm is seeking an environmental technician with a solid foundation in the priniciples of environmental science. With Bioregion offices nationwide, Biohabitats works throughout the country and internationally with public, private, and non-profit organizations to Restore the Earth and Inspire Ecological Stewardship.

This entry-level position will support project managers, project technical leads, and other team members on a variety of projects, including ecological restoration master planning; stream, floodplain, and wetland restoration; shoreline restoration; and stormwater management retrofitting. Applicants must not only be motivated and technically skilled, but also passionate about the environment and sincerely interested in restoring the earth and inspiring ecological stewardship.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Supporting seasonal stream and wetland restoration construction services by performing Erosion Control inspections, turbidity monitoring, and participating in fish salvage documentation efforts.
  • Compiling, analyzing, and reporting on desktop and field data using a variety of software, including MS Office 365.
  • Providing other technical project support as needed.
  • Various project field support including safety related compliance tasks, delivery management, errands, and various documentation.

Required Skills

  • Experience and proficiency working safely on construction sites, including complying with all safety regulations and precautions.
  • Ability to support or lead field assessments under a variety of weather and site conditions.
  • Experience with or exposure to stream, wetland, and forest assessments.
  • Proficiency with MS Office 365, specifically Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively in a team environment and independently.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Helpful Skills

  • Experience with Erosion and Sediment Control installation and inspections.
  • Experience with biological sampling.
  • Understanding of Federal, State, and Local environmental permitting.
  • Use of technical equipment such as turbid meter.
  • Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead and/or Erosion and Sediment Control Inspector.

Education

  • Courses in relevant environmental fields (e.g. Applied Ecology, Biology, Earth Science, Environmental Science, Geology, etc.)

Years of Experience

  • 1-3 years

Hourly

  • $24.00 - $30.00

Expectations

  • Reliable transportation. Biohabitats will reimburse mileage.
  • 20-32 hours per week.
  • Work through September 30.

  • Portland, OR and surrounding counties
