The Beverage/Bar Manager is responsible for managing all bar operations including the Half Time Bar & Grill, The Brooklyn Bar, and our new outdoor Bar. Prepares and serves alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages to customers or guests. Management-level associates are expected to work as much of each workday as is necessary to complete their job responsibilities; Strong customer service and interpersonal skills while working with diverse clientele in a fast-paced environment, oversee the beverage program for our bars, restaurants, catering departments, which includes keeping inventory, creating beverage menus, and training staff.

Beverage/Bar Manager Duties

Create Beverage Program

Develop beverage programs, which includes what types of drinks to offer, which brands of liquor to use, pricing, and other menu aspects. This includes creating wine lists, beer selections, and cocktail items.

Order Beverages and Maintain Inventory

Order adequate supplies of liquor and non-alcoholic drinks and maintain a sufficient inventory. This duty involves forecasting and keeping track of which drinks are most in demand. In addition, ensure a supply of non-drink bar items, such as snacks, napkins, mixers, and drink garnishes.

Manage Staff Training and Schedules

Train bartenders and bar wait staff and create schedules for all full- and part-time employees associated with serving Strikes customers.

Generate and Manage Cost Reports

Oversee the cost of inventory and supplies and submit reports on a periodic basis. Review cost increases, communicate with vendors to review charges, and apply strategies to lower costs when possible.

 

Beverage/Bar Manager Skills

Quick-thinking leader who can adapt to daily change in the workplace and consistently meet customer demands. The following highlights those skills and abilities:

·        Business Management â€“ Understand how to read and manage P&L statements, understand and implement marketing and promotional strategies

·        Bartending Skills â€“ Effectively train and management of bar and server staff with infusions on proper pour ratios drink menu protocols, customer service expectations.

·        Conflict Management – Understand and implement conflict resolution techniques with both customers and staff

·        Customer Service – Deliver an exceptional customer services experience in all areas of the business (Facility, Staff, Services). Train staff on how to deliver a quality experience when engaging with Strikes Unlimited customers.

·        Communication â€“ Effective communication skills between customers, staff and management is a curtail element of the Beverage managers position.

·        Team Building â€“ Train, manage, promote and when necessary discipline staff to insure staff is motivated, and enthusiastic to work.

·        Organizational Skills â€“ Strong time management skills required to insure smooth work environment

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Typically requires a high school diploma and at least 6 years of experience. For large bars a college degree preferably hospitality management experience is essential.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the field's concepts and principles.
  • Performs complex tasks typically following established processes.
  • Leads and directs the work of other employees and has full authority for personnel decisions.
  • Primarily focused on administering established policies and procedures but may have some impact on departmental budgeting strategic planning and procedural change.
  • A pleasing personality
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Good customer service ethics
  • Thorough knowledge regarding state specifications for running a bar
  • Work hours are inconsistent and hence must be able to work odd hours

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees payment procedures cash or credit handling and updating payment software data.
  • Develops staff scheduling to ensure adequate service levels are achieved.
  • Aligns staffing appropriately to avoid any gaps in service.
  • Ensures quality customer service and resolves all complaints.
  • Ensures all bar equipment utensils and materials are clean and in compliance with food safety standards.
  • Manages operations to meet liquor license and food safety requirements.
  • Communicates with vendors and supplies to maintain adequate inventory levels.
  • Communicates with regulatory and compliance bodies as required.
  • He or she has to guide every other employee of the bar and at the same time he or she should make sure that every guest is returning happily from their bar.
