What you will do

 The Product Designer II will work on the Wine Guardian team that is part of the Air Innovations, Inc. This position will be in our Syracuse office and will report to our Director of Engineering.

 This position will be responsible for performing 3-D modeling, preparing drawings, and providing documentation support for components and assemblies that conform to design standards for Manufacturing. This Product Designer II role requires the experience to handle solid modeling assignments without supervision and demonstrate good working knowledge and skills in the areas of drafting practices and procedures.

 Job Profile Summary

Plans, directs, and executes basic design projects related to new product development, redesign of existing products, and/or production modifications. May have some responsibility for CAD deliverables to the customer, layout/packaging coordination, release coordination and CAD studies. 

How you will do it

The Product Designer II will perform the following:

·        Generates the complete product design for major programs maximizing design and modeling productivity, including leadership of Drafters and/or Designers on a design team.

·        Prepares comprehensive models, drawings and layouts of piece parts, units, or assemblies of unusual, complex, or original concepts in design from engineering data requiring a high degree of precision and expertise.

·        Monitors and reports program progress and taking appropriate action to react to deviations from plan.

·        Develops construction concepts for products that meet overall business goals.

·        Prepare bill of materials and input information into the ERP system.

·        Some responsibility for technical direction to others who assist on specific work assignments.

What we look for

Minimum Qualifications

·        Education and work experience

    • A minimum of 2 years of hands on experience with SolidWorks or similar 3-D solid modeling software and an associate degree/Technical degree in Mechanical Drafting.
    • OR
    • A minimum of 4 years of hands on experience with SolidWorks or similar 3-D solid modeling software experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

·        High level of self-motivation and integrity.

·        Effective and professional communication and organizational skills are required.

·        Ability to troubleshoot, collaborate and brainstorm with other team members.

·        Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.

·        Strong interpersonal skills and decision-making ability.

·        Experience in configuring and troubleshooting SolidWorks preferred.

·        Often explains facts, practices, policies, etc. to primarily others internally. Uses influence to convince others internally where strong interest exists to accept new concepts, practices, and approaches.

·        Adapts or enhances quality or value in existing methods; make better as part of day-to-day activities.

·        Problems may be only vaguely defined and require understanding and consideration of other job areas.

·        Broader knowledge of theory and principles within a professional discipline or advanced technical/operational practices.

·        Individual contributor, no direct responsibility for leading others.
