Senior Childcare Worker

This position is responsible for providing skilled childcare to children who enroll in the Children’s Program. The Senior Child Care Worker will implement daily activities that promote learning, independence, and social interactions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-  Provide skilled child care to toddlers and children age three through twelve years
-  Provide care for up to 5 to 6 children at any given time
-  Teach simple drawing, painting, craft, and language skills (e.g. songs)
-  Actively participate in recreational play and teaching activities
-  Engage with children applying knowledge of childhood development, including learning behavior and physical, mental and emotional development.
-  Maintain open communication with parents/caregivers
-  Observe and monitor children’s play and interactive activities
-  Instruct children in health and personal habits, such as eating, resting and toilet habits
-  Assisting in preparing and serving children’s meals, snacks or beverages
-  Attending to the hygienic needs of the children (including changing diapers)
EDUCATION:
-  High School Diploma or equivalent
-  90 clock hours or the equivalent of infant-specific coursework
EXPERIENCE:
- One (1) year of experience working with infants/ toddlers and/or preschoolers in an approved urban setting
OR
- One (1) year of college
OR
-  Combination of experience and college equal to one (1) year
SKILLS:
-  Excellent oral and written communication skills
-  Knowledge of child development
-  Computer word processing (Microsoft Office)
