In the integral role as a Dietitian at Masonic Homes of Kentucky, you will plan, organize, develop and direct the overall operation of the Food Services Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility, and as may be directed by the Executive Director, to assure that quality nutritional services are being provided on a daily basis and that the food services department is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner. You are also delegated to administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out assigned duties.

Other Responsibilities:

?       Perform Resident Interviews

?       Complete MDS Section K and others as needed

?       Assist in the following tasks:

?       Assesses the nutritional status of adult and/or geriatric patient through documentation in the medical record. Uses parameters such as anthropometric measurements, visual assessment, and interpretation of laboratory values.

?       Develops and revises a nutrition care plan based on information from the patient, medical record, family, and health care team members.

?       Incorporates current evidence-based research into practice.

?       Reviews and updates nutritional care guidelines and/or Diet Manual based on latest research and clinical practice.

?       Adheres to facility confidentiality, HIPAA regulations, and patient rights policies.

?       Complies with regulatory agency standards, including federal, state and Joint Commission as evidenced by successful completion of surveys with no deficiencies.

?       Completes all required documentation, reports, and logs in a timely, professional, and thorough manner.

?       Communicates effectively with all team members, patients and families through conferences, individual consultation and committee participation. This includes telephone, written, and electronic communication.

?       Orients, mentors and trains staff and interns, as applicable

?       Advises department on patient care and food service issues.

?       Follows facility and department infection control policies and procedures.

?       Participates in facility-wide and department Performance Improvement Program and on Performance Improvement teams to improve processes and patient care.

?       Visits patients on an assigned nursing unit or area and helps ensure that every patient is visited by a member of the management or professional team at least once during their hospital stay.

?       Assists and contributes to stated patient satisfaction goals by providing quality service.

 

Requirements:

Candidate must be a Registered Dietician licensed in the state of Kentucky OR must meet the following 3 criteria:

1. Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university

2. 900 supervised hours {under the supervision of a Registered Dietician}

3. Willing to get the Registered Dietitian Credential (Commission on Dietetic Registration - CDR). (Kentucky State Licensure for Dietitians) within 6 months of employment

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

?       At least two (2) years' work experience as a dietitian is preferred

?       Long-term care or hospital geriatric experience preferred but, willing to train

?       Ability to interact in a positive manner and communicate well with residents, families, co-workers, supervisor, and other employees.

?       Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations

?       Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals

?       Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of medical staff, healthcare professionals, managers, clients, customers, and the general public

?       Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra

?       Possesses necessary skills to effectively operate short-term rehab and long-term care admissions, discharge and transfer (ADT) system, and other computer-based systems, which manage patient-care records. Ability to operate a standard computer, including basic use of MS applications such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint

?       Excellent time management skills, be a self-starter and a team player

?       Ability to lift up to 30 pounds;

?       Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time; and

?       Ability to reach, push, pull, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl, grasp, use fine finger movement.
