Physiotherapist - 1.0 FTE (External)
Job Summary:
Brunswick Street Supportive Housing project provides 24/7, wrap-around support to 38 tenants who are 50+ to age in place. A multidisciplinary team of social workers, nurses, occupational therapist, physical therapist and continuing care assistants ensure each tenant has a support plan that meets the physical health, mental health and social needs. In addition, the team has housing support workers 24/7 to support tenants in maintain their tenancies and accessing services
The Physiotherapist at the Supportive Housing program – Brunswick Street plays a vital role within an interdisciplinary health team, providing physiotherapy services that support the unique needs of senior residents. This position involves delivering trauma-informed, client-centered care to older adults who may be living with complex health conditions, mobility challenges, cognitive impairments, or the effects of trauma and systemic marginalization. Through comprehensive assessment and inclusive programming, the Physiotherapist enhances physical function, promotes independence, and improves overall quality of life for residents. Services are grounded in principles of dignity, cultural responsiveness, and holistic well-being, aiming to foster community connection and reduce isolation among seniors.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy or acceptable equivalent from a recognized school of Physiotherapy
- Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapy Registration and eligibility for membership in Canadian Physiotherapy Association.
- Holds current professional liability insurance.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role that requires a broad scope of practice, multiple demands and teamwork.
- Experience in not for profits and health care setting preferred but not essential.
- Experience working in a collaborative practice setting.
- Experience working with people experiencing poverty, homelessness, and other social determinants of health issues an asset.
- Experience working in a diverse and multicultural environment.
- Valid class 5 NS driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract and access to own reliable vehicle (not for client transportation) asset.
