Kitchen Staff (Banquets)

Position Summary

Prepare and cook food in a high quality, consistent and timely manner while maintaining a clean and safe environment.

 

Specific Accountabilities

·         Setting up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies

·         Prepare and cook assigned dishes based on event sheet requirements

·         Ensure that food comes out in a timely manner

·         Proper usage of kitchen appliances and equipment

·         Assist with dishwashing and maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment and work areas and floors

o   Other tasks includes sweeping and mopping floors, changing garbage bags, putting away cookware and serving ware, etc.

·         Stock and maintain inventory as required. Ensure the First In First Out procedure is followed

·         Demonstrate a clean, positive and professional presence with team members and assist guests in a courteous and helpful manner

·         Adhere to all health and safety regulations, protocols and to the Food Services Code of Conduct

·         Perform other responsibilities when required as directed by the Food Services Manager, Assistant Manager and/or Supervisor

·         Stamina, flexibility and self-discipline to work long hours as required

·         Ability to remain composed when handling multiple tasks and when faced with unexpected problems and stressful situations

·         Ability to work in a fast-paced consumer driven environment and make reasonable decisions quickly

·         Some knowledge in proper food safety and handling

 

Working Conditions

·         Evening, weekend, late-night and holiday shift work

·         Ability to work in standing positions for long periods of time

·         May lift, carry, push or pull items weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis

·         Handle the use of kitchen appliances and equipment

 

Qualifications & Educational Requirements

Most training is completed on the job however; most should possess an interest in the food and beverage service

·         Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks

·         Some experience in the Food & Beverage industry

·         General understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures

·         No educational background required
