Sr. Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically strong Senior Accountant to play a key role in our month-end close process, revenue recognition, billing operations, and expense management. This role will work closely with Sales, RevOps, and Logistics to ensure accurate revenue and COGS recognition in the proper reporting periods. 

The ideal candidate has strong NetSuite experience, solid ASC 606 knowledge, and thrives in a hands-on, operationally integrated finance environment. This full-time position is open to candidates in Canada. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

Month-End Close & Financial Reporting 

  • Lead assigned components of the monthly close process 

  • Prepare and post journal entries, including revenue and expense accruals 

  • Ensure proper revenue and COGS cutoff in coordination with Sales, RevOps, and Logistics 

  • Prepare and reconcile balance sheet accounts 

  • Maintain detailed supporting schedules and working papers 

  • Assist with quarterly and year-end reporting requirements 

Revenue Recognition (ASC 606) 

  • Apply ASC 606 guidance to ensure revenue is recognized appropriately 

  • Review contracts and billing terms to determine revenue treatment 

  • Maintain deferred revenue and revenue rollforward schedules 

  • Ensure revenue and related COGS are recorded in the correct accounting period 

Billing & Invoicing Operations 

  • Manage hardware invoicing processes 

  • Oversee software invoicing using NetSuite SuiteBilling 

  • Partner with Sales and RevOps to ensure billing aligns with contractual terms 

  • Resolve billing discrepancies and support collections inquiries as needed 

Fixed Assets & Capitalization 

  • Maintain fixed asset subledger (additions, disposals, depreciation) 

  • Capitalize internally developed software in accordance with accounting standards 

  • Maintain amortization schedules and ensure proper expense recognition 

Expense Management & Controls 

  • Administer and manage Ramp corporate card program 

  • Review and approve employee expenses for compliance and accuracy 

  • Ensure proper expense coding and timely posting to NetSuite 

  • Monitor spend trends and support monthly expense accruals 

  • Maintain strong internal controls over corporate spend 

Tax & Compliance Support 

  • Administer and manage Avalara for sales tax compliance 

  •  Ensure accurate sales tax setup, calculation, and reporting within NetSuite 

  •  Review taxability of products and transactions across jurisdictions 

  • Reconcile sales tax reports and support timely filings 

  • Assist with corporate tax compliance and prepare supporting schedules for external tax advisors 

  • Support external audit requests and prepare required documentation 

Government Incentives (SR&ED) 

  • Track eligible expenses for the Canadian SR&ED program 

  • Prepare annual accrual calculations 

  • Support documentation and audit inquiries related to SR&ED claims 

 

Systems & Tools 

  • NetSuite (GL, Fixed Assets, Revenue, SuiteBilling) 

  • Ramp (corporate card & expense management) 

  • Avalara (sales tax compliance and reporting) 

  • Advanced Excel skills required 

 

Qualifications 

  • CPA designation or actively pursuing preferred 

  • 4+ years progressive accounting experience 

  • Strong working knowledge of ASC 606 

  • Experience in hardware and/or SaaS environments preferred 

  • Experience capitalizing internally developed software 

  • Experience managing corporate card and expense platforms 

  • NetSuite experience strongly preferred 

  • Strong analytical and reconciliation skills 

  • Ability to operate independently in a deadline-driven environment 

  • Understanding of US and Canadian Accounting preferred.
