A Full-Time MRI Technologist is needed for the Baltimore:Towson region. 

Hours: Mon-Fri 8a-5p; Saturday Rotations

Position Summary

The MRI Imaging Technician is responsible for technical skills encompassing producing high-quality MRI diagnostic images while providing excellent patient care. The MRI Technologist works closely with patients and medical staff to ensure proper testing and use of equipment.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Operates the MRI system, computer, and other related components in accordance with protocols for maximum quality images

  • Exercises judgment when electing to divert from routine protocols

  • Preps room to ensure that equipment is operable and that supplies are ready

  • Checks referral for appropriate study and contacts referring physician to clarify if needed

  • Promptly completes patient exams, questionnaires, and testing in order to ensure smooth daily operations and coordination of care

  • Delivers direct patient care to patients as assigned with tact, discretion, and professionalism

  • Maintains patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA law

  • Complies with all applicable ethical, legal and procedural rules and regulations;

  • Follows safety guidelines and protocols including screening MRI room for metal objects and implants prior to patient entering, performing emergency shut down of equipment and providing hearing protection to patients when applicable, disposing of infectious materials into biohazard containers and ensuring the cleanliness of rooms and equipment daily

  • Communicates efficiently, effectively and respectfully with medical staff, patients, and patient families

  • Documents history; recording and reporting pertinent observations and patient reactions to staff, as appropriate; documenting procedures and ensuring follow up on results

  • Uses screening procedures, including medical history review, and observing and documenting patient vital signs as required

  • Verifies equipment function through routine equipment maintenance and advanced troubleshooting; monitoring quality control measures and protocols

  • Assists with or instituting emergency measures for sudden adverse developments during treatment

  • Trains new technicians on equipment as needed

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • An appropriate license, registrations, educational degree for modality in which individual specializes required; state regulations may vary

  • Demonstrated ability to use selected equipment, technique and patient positioning including TR, TE, flip angle, slice thickness, acquisitions, the field of view and other adjustments and factors on the equipment in order to produce high-quality images.

  • Working knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and MR pathology; awareness of biohazards of cryogens, MRI contraindications

  • Ability to work independently with very little supervision and exercise sound judgment

  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and preventative measures (HIPAA confidentiality, infection spread, etc.)

  • Exemplary customer service experience including patient relationships and job knowledge

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively; ability to critically think

  • Ability to exercise manual dexterity, control precision and arm-hand steadiness accurately

  • Ability to be empathetic with patients; ability to maintain confidentiality

     

    Certification in MRI (RT) (MR) required. MD state license.
