Gear Cutter

Ideal Gear & Machine Works Inc., a division of Boundary Mining Group is hiring for a Gear Technician to support the ongoing work in our gearbox manufacturing shop. 

Reporting to the Shop Supervisor, the Gear Technician is responsible for setting up and operating CNC Gear Grinding equipment with supervision support, grinding gear teeth and holding very tight tolerances, and maintaining proper documentation and calibration from on board measuring while collaborating with supervisor and quality department.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ability to operate machinery as required
• Verify part requirements with the job traveler and drawing
• Make machine adjustments as required to maintain print specifications
• Set-up machines, load and unload machines
• Determine when wheels need dressing and replacement
• Assist in determining tooling & fixturing needs
• Use inspection methods to determine size changes 

Qualifications & Experience:

• 5+ years of gearing experience.
• A Journeyman ticket in any of the following trades is considered an asset: Heavy Equipment Technician, Millwright, Industrial Mechanic, or Machinist. 
• Experience in a gear manufacturing shop is required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude is required.
• Fundamental understanding of the repair and testing of all types of gearboxes and mechanical components.
• Experience in system troubleshooting.
• Able to read and understand engineering drawings and schematics.
