Position Summary
Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux is seeking a Manager for the Good Samaritan Thrift Store and Food Bank in Raceland. This position oversees the daily operations of both ministries, ensuring efficient retail management while providing compassionate food assistance to those in need.
The Manager supervises volunteers, maintains operational and financial accountability, and ensures the facility provides a welcoming, mission-driven environment that reflects the values of Catholic Charities.
Specific Duties Include:
Operations
Oversee daily operations of the Thrift Store and Food Bank.
Manage intake, sorting, pricing, and merchandising of donated goods.
Supervise the receipt, storage, and distribution of food inventory.
Ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
Maintain the facility, equipment, and vehicles in safe working condition.
Build positive relationships with community partners and donors.
Volunteer Leadership
Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers.
Create volunteer schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
Ensure compliance with Diocese Safe Environment policies.
Foster a positive and mission-centered work environment.
Administrative & Financial Responsibilities
Oversee client intake and documentation using Neighbor Intake and Charity Tracker.
Track volunteer hours and food distribution records.
Manage thrift store cash handling, drawer counts, and deposits.
Prepare basic sales reports and communicate operational updates to the Senior Manager.
Work Schedule
35 hours per week
Typical hours fall between Monday and Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
One Saturday per month required
Additional hours may occasionally be required during disaster response efforts
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience in retail, nonprofit work, or volunteer management preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to lift or move items up to 40 pounds.
Ability to drive a cargo van when needed.
Must hold a valid driver’s license.
Additional Requirements
Must complete the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux Safe Environment Program.
This position supervises volunteers.
